Student Behavior: Think Sheets
At WSE, we are committed to providing a safe and orderly learning environment for all students. We recognize that students may occasionally make mistakes, and that’s perfectly okay as long as they maintain a growth mindset and learn from their experiences. This school year, all teachers will be using think sheets as a tool for reflection. These sheets will vary by grade level to suit students' abilities. The purpose of the think sheet is to help students reflect on their actions and to facilitate communication between the student, parent, and teacher. If your child brings one home, please review it with them, sign it, and return it to their teacher. We appreciate your ongoing partnership in supporting your child’s growth!
Purple Week
Purple Week is coming up at the end of September and the time is now to get your purple apparel! We have short and long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants and more! All proceeds go directly to cancer and Parkinson’s disease research at Van Andel Institute. Wearing your purple shows your support for the cause - we hope to make this the most successful Purple Week fundraiser yet!!!

Routines - Why are they Important?
School is back in session and gone are the lazy days of summer. Most of us have gotten out of our normal routines, but it is time to start establishing some regular routines. Just like adults, children feel more confident and secure when their daily activities are predictable and familiar. A consistent daily schedule and step-by-step routines give children a predictable day.
Routines build self-confidence, curiosity, social skills, self-control, communication skills and more. Routines create manageable expectations that allow children to build emotional resilience, such as saying goodbye to parents each morning at drop-off.
Repetitive actions help form neural connections, enabling the brain to process information more efficiently. As children engage in consistent daily activities, they improve their memory, problem solving abilities, and critical thinking skills. Feel free to reach out to me if you need any help developing daily routines.
