Worthington Academy Family Update
May 18th
December 8th
Principal's Note
Hello Academy Families,
This will be our last "normal" week of the year. We'll still be finishing up some state tests, but generally speaking, it's business as usual. In just over a week, we'll have an alternative schedule for semester exams at the home high schools (more info below) and winter holiday parties as planned by our Student Advisory Board.
This means that we're nearly HALFWAY through the school year already. For those keeping track, you students should be finishing up class number 4 for the year. Those who are looking to catch up and/or get ahead should have more than 4 classes completed. We'll have a pretty clear picture after winter break of whether our students are on pace to reach their goals by the end of the year, but there is still plenty of work ahead of us. Finish these last two weeks strong by knocking out Academy coursework and working hard to turn in work and crush semester exams at the home high schools. An extra hard push now will save stress later.
Be good to one another,
Dr. Flynn

Semester Exam Schedule

Worthington Pre-Apprenticeship Information
We have district website that maintains up-to-date information on our Pre-Apprenticeship offerings. Please check it out here: https://www.worthington.k12.oh.us/studentsparents/learning-opportunities/pre-apprenticeship-programs
On the evening of October 14th at 6pm in the WKHS auditorium, we hosted representatives from Worthington Steel, Worthington Enterprises, Simpson Strong Tie, and Performance Columbus to share with our Junior and Senior students and their families about the Pre-Apprenticeship opportunities they offer to our Seniors. Performance Columbus is a year-long program that begins in September, while Worthington Steel, Worthington Enterprises, and Simpson Strong Tie are second semester programs that begin after winter break. Most of these are paid opportunities, and each will ideally lead to a job right out of high school.
If you missed this meeting, please check out the information below. Those interested in applying to the Worthington Steel Workforce Experience must apply by November 1st and attend Interviews on November 12.
Explore Future Career Opportunities in Healthcare and Life Sciences
Students and families interested in learning more about the future of Healthcare, Biotechnology and Life Sciences are invited to attend the next installment of the Delaware Area Career Center's "Future of Work" series, held Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 6-7 p.m. at DACC. This free, community event will begin with a look at regional workforce trends and end with a panel discussion featuring local employers representing the Healthcare, Biotechnology and Life Sciences industries. It will offer parents a comprehensive look at what's next in these respective career fields, featuring fresh data and insights from local industry leaders. If you're a family with an eye toward the future and are thinking about ‘future ready skills’ for your student, this is a can't-miss event. Register here and See the full agenda here.
