FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents
Hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful weather that we are having and spending quality time with your family members. Our staff are fully into another busy term of learning and providing engaging experiences for all their students.
New Pope
It was exciting this last week to hear the announcement about the new Pope who will be known as Pope Leo XIV. He brings much hope to our world with his words of peace that he shared. We pray that he will lead the Church with compassion and care for the marginalised in our society. We keep him in our prayers as we continue to do so for the late Pope Francis.
Project Compassion Total
At the end of last term, we completed our Project Compassion collection, and we can happily announce that we raised a very pleasing amount of $817.40 well done to everyone, we have forwarded this money to Caritas who will ensure this is distributed to those in need.
Social Justice
This term our focus and support will be for LifeLink and the Winter Appeal. The Year 6 Ministry have been busy organising our next major fundraiser and have come up with some good ideas that we will share soon with our school community.
Father Francis Quoc Tran Farewell Mass
Father Quoc will be leaving our parish in the next couple of weeks and taking up a new appointment in the parish of Kalgoorlie. We will be farewelling Fr Quoc on Sunday 18 May at the 10.00am Mass at Our Lady of the Missions church. We are all invited to attend Mass and farewell Fr Quoc and wish him every blessing as he takes on his new position.
Mother's Day Breakfast and Assembly
A big thank you must go out to Dan Sorgiovanni and his wonderful team of dads and mums who assisted in making the Mother’s Day Breakfast a success. It was a fabulous turn out and we were blessed with the glorious weather. The morning was complete with the Year 1 children who shared their beautiful thoughts about their mums and shared their talents in their singing. Well, done Year 1s, you made us all cry with joy.
Neurodivergent Speaker
On Wednesday evening we were fortunate to listen to an amazing speaker Claire Britton. Thank you, Loretta Daymen and the P & F Committee, for organising this interesting and excellent speaker. I know that many of us benefited from hearing about the most recent information and research on Neurodivergence and how we can support these students and understand their needs.
Sacrament of Confirmation
The sacrament of Confirmation is a sacred moment in the lives of our young ones, where they publicly affirm their commitment to their faith and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It's a time of spiritual growth and deepening of their relationship with God.
In the coming weeks, our Year 6 students will be preparing for this important sacrament. Please keep our Year 6 students in your thoughts and prayers as they approach Confirmation Day. Together, let's surround them with love, encouragement and the power of prayer.
Have a lovely weekend with your family.

CURRICULUM
Knitting Club
This term we started a new knitting club. Last year a few children in Year 3 were involved but now it is open to Year 3 and up. It is great to see the eager children, and their determination is amazing. Some words of wisdom from some of our little group.
Cami: I started last year, and I knit at home when I get a bit overwhelmed. It makes me feel calm
Mia: My Nonna taught me to knit, and my Mum helps too. I can now knit without looking. I like knitting at school
Niamh: I’m just starting to learn. It is a bit hard, but I reckon I’ll get better at it
Mae: I think it is difficult but I’m getting the hang of it. I keep practicing at home
Billie: It is fun and soon I’ll be able to make cool stuff
Chiara has finished a scarf that she started last year, it looks terrific. We already have a few other projects in the works so will keep you up to date with finished products.

Coding Club
Coding Club has commenced this term with selected coders from Years 4-6! Our eager students are excited to use Grok Academy to begin their coding learning journey. The Learning Platform has a range of online coding courses, competitions and activities all aligned to the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies. The Platform uses interactive notes and engaging, real world problems with auto-marking and feedback for our coders to progress through the courses at their own pace.
Our young coders are enjoying learning to code and share their knowledge, skills and even jokes with other coders in the club!

ADMINISTRATION
School Back Gate
At the end of last year, we installed new electric gates for the back entry of the school. These gates were installed to ensure the safety of all our students and discourage strangers coming onto the school premises. These gates are open in the morning at 8.10am and are open in the afternoon at 2.20pm. The gates will automatically close at 4.30pm each day. Please ensure that if you intend to park at the back of the school that you leave before 4.30pm otherwise you will be locked inside.
There will be occasions that the gate may be opened/closed at a different time. Or alternatively if you are intending to stay longer, please park on O'Leary Road or in the carpark near the office.
Before School Supervision
We kindly remind all parents that students are supervised from 8.15am in the amphitheatre/undercover area. It’s important that students do not go to any other part of the school such as the tennis courts, oval, playground etc, these areas are only to be used during school time. Students in the ECE area should be supervised by an adult whilst they wait for the doors to be opened. We ask parents to support us with this matter for the safety of all students.

Uniform Shop Changes
The uniform shop will no longer be operating from the school shop. All purchases will need to be placed online or directly from our store in Osborne Park. We will continue to deliver orders every Friday to the school. Our showroom at Unit 1 Guthrie Street is open everyday of the week Mon-Thur 8am-4pm and Fri 8am-1pm.
We appreciate your support and understanding.

Containers for Change - Get Involved!
We’re excited to roll out our Containers for Change fundraising initiative! It’s a simple and effective way our PCPS community can support sustainability while raising funds for school projects.
Students can pop eligible 10c containers into the Containers for Change bin located in the amphitheatre during school hours.
Families are also welcome to support this initiative by:
- Scanning our P&F barcode at any official Containers for Change return centre.
- Dropping off bags of eligible containers at designated drop points using our scheme ID.
- Bringing containers to school and adding them to the collection bin.
Already collecting containers at home for your own refund? That’s totally fine—this is just another way to give back if you're keen to contribute!
Every 10c goes directly to projects that benefit our kids—whether it’s enhancing school facilities, adding new resources, or bringing our community events to life. Little actions, big impact.
Keep an eye out in Term 2 for more information from our Containers for Change team!
Lend a Hand in 2025
Want to get involved but not sure where to start? We’re currently filling a few key roles for next year and beyond—there’s something for everyone, and you’ll be part of a supportive team.
- Family Fair 2026 – 5 of 8 planning spots filled. Join the dream team bringing this much-anticipated event to life!
- Mother’s Day 2026 – Shadow Dan this year and step up in 2026 to help celebrate our amazing mums.
- Sausage Sizzle (Terms 2 & 3) – Ann’s looking for a cooking buddy and someone to learn the ropes for future events.
Whether you've got a few hours or want to dive right in, we'd love to hear from you. Community events only happen with the help of amazing volunteers like you!
