BES Principal Newsletter
October 25th, 2024
Good evening BES families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. October has blessed us with some great weather! Our focused trait this month in school, has been self-control. Self-control means being able to resist immediate temptations and avoid acting on impulse in order to achieve more important goals, such as learning or being kind. When kids have better self-control, they do better in school and get along better with others. So may positive reports came in for students demonstrating self-control. Our Student of the Month recipients for the month of October are pictured above! Way to SOAR, Eagles!
As always, should you have a question or concerns regarding your student, please contact your student's teacher first before contacting the office. A lot of questions can be answered in a timely fashion and a lot of concerns can be rectified with talking to the teacher. However, if your concerns/questions do not get answered, please reach out to myself at johnson@byron.k12.mi.us or 810.266.4671.
Enjoy your weekend!
Educationally Yours,
Mrs. Johnson
💛Meet Mara! Byron Elementary's New Registered Therapy Dog!💜
Mara comes to us on Thursdays throughout the remainder of the year to offer students time with her to bond over a story. Our focus is to grow our student's confidence and reading skills in a relaxing setting. Our preschoolers will be enjoying Mara during their "library" time and our elementary students will be able to put their ticket into the "Read with Mara" SOARing drawing. As we get to know Mara, and Mara and her handler, Denise, get to know Byron Elementary, we will look at more ways to incorporate Mara into learning throughout the school.
It is important to note that if your student is allergic to dogs/pet dander, etc.. that the school is made aware to plan for the best course of action with parent input. Please contact Mrs. Andrea Howard if your student is allergic to dogs at 810.266.4671 or email Nurse Howard at andrea.howard@byron.k12.mi.us.

🍎 Today was the Michigan Great Apple Crunch! Our entire school district crunched on local Wyrick apples, and they were awesome! 📸 We snapped some photos of our pre-school crunchers. Thanks for making it a great crunch day! 🍏
