Notes from Onondaga Road

Dear Onondaga Road Families,

We had a wonderful week here at Onondaga Road! Tuesday’s half-day was a fantastic opportunity for our staff to deepen their learning about social-emotional strategies. Together, we explored ways to support our students in managing their emotions, helping them feel prepared and focused for learning.

Many classrooms held mock elections, giving our students a fun and educational experience in civic responsibility. It was a great way for them to learn about the importance of voting!

This week, we also honored Veterans Day in a special way. Our students created stars to symbolize the service of family members who have served in the armed forces. A big thank you to Officer Charlie for arranging a visit from active military members, who shared their experiences with our students. They even brought along an ATV and some other equipment, which made the day extra exciting! Thank you to CMSgt Patrick DiCrasto and SSgt Josh Stuat from the 274th Air Support Operations Squadron for taking time out of your schedules to visit our school.

We will be continuing to practice our safety drills next week.

And finally, a quick reminder: There will be no school on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

See our Onondaga Road students in action!

Dr. Dashely came to visit our third grade classrooms and talk to the students about dental hygiene. This was a great way to connect what they are learning in the Human Body Systems unit to their everyday lives.

The PTA is looking forward to a year of activities! The next PTA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 5 at 6:00 in the Onondaga Road Library. Please consider becoming a PTA member to help support all of the great PTA-sponsored activities. We would love to see you at the next meeting.
