THE RAPTOR REPORT

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents/Guardians:
It has been a very smooth week. We finally finished our Smarter Balance testing on Tuesday. Tonight is our 8th grade Disco themed dance. Next week we continue with some of our end of the year events. We have the 8th grade Boston field trip going out on Tuesday (5/20), and the 7th grade Lake Compounce Trip going out on Thursday (5/22). On Friday we have our Middle School Get Out and Play Day, with a myriad of planned activities for students. Please remember that Friday, 5/23 is also an early release day.
We know that everyone is looking forward to summer. After the next long week we will have just over 2 weeks left of school, and we hope to have a strong finish to the year.
That is all I have for now.
Have a great weekend.
Michael Seroussi
Outstanding Balance Reminder
Many students continue to have outstanding lunch balances and/or outstanding obligations from items that were lost or damaged. Please note that for 8th grade students, all outstanding obligations (e.g., lunch, lost items, etc.) must be paid off by Friday, June 6th, so that they can participate in our promotion ceremony. If you have any questions, please contact the office.
Thank You AHM and Flour Girl!
RHAM Middle School Staff would like to express our appreciation to AHM and the Flour Girl for providing us with two delicious and healthy breakfasts this spring.

Important Information From the Nurse's Office
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for partnering with us in keeping your children healthy and safe. Spring is a wonderful time of year, but it also brings seasonal allergies, outdoor injuries, sunburns, insect bites, and common illnesses.
Here are a few important reminders as we wrap up the school year:
· Common Spring Illnesses & Prevention: Warmer weather and increased outdoor activity can bring seasonal allergies, strep throat, colds, and pink eye. If your child has symptoms such as fever, sore throat, or eye irritation, please keep them home until they are symptom-free. Please consider a daily over the counter allergy medication or consult their pediatrician if symptoms persist.
· Medications: If your child has medications stored at school, please arrange to pick them up by the end of the school day on the last day of school Friday June 13th. Medications cannot be sent home with students.
· Health Forms for Next Year: If your child requires medication or specialized health accommodations for the next school year, please ensure that updated forms are submitted before the beginning of the next school year. These forms can be found on our school website or picked up in the health office.
· Vaccination and Physicals: For students who do not have up to date vaccines or physical please provide the necessary documentation by the beginning of next school year the latest. Letters will be sent home again if this pertains to your child. Remember if your child plans to participate in a fall sport next year they must have a physical from within the last 13months to be eligible.
· Warm Weather Precautions: As temperatures rise, please ensure your child brings a reusable water bottle to school with them every day to stay hydrated and wears sunscreen as needed for outdoor activities.
· Fun in the Sun Safety Tips: Encourage your child to stay active safely—bike helmets, hydration, and protection from mosquitos, ticks and sun exposure. Long sleeves and insect repellent can help minimize exposure to bugs, and checking for ticks after outdoor play is recommended.
· Importance of Breakfast & Lunch: Proper nutrition is essential for your child’s health and academic performance. A balanced breakfast fuels energy and concentration throughout the day, while a healthy lunch helps maintain focus and stamina. Please ensure your child eats nutritious meals to avoid missed class time spent in the Health Office and to support their learning and overall well-being.
Wishing you a wonderful Spring Season!
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you!

News From Guidance
Grades 7 & 8: We're in the homestretch for the 2024-2025 school year! Please be aware that if your child is failing (59 or below) 2 or more courses for the year they may be facing taking summer school courses or retention. Summer School courses will be offered in English, Science, Math and Social Studies. Summer School will run from June 30th through July 24th (excluding July 4th). Classes will meet Monday through Thursday from 8 am - 12 pm. There is no cost associated with Summer School and bus transportation will NOT be provided. Your child's School Counselor will be in touch with more detailed information if Summer School is required for your child.
Grade 8: Toward the end of this month 8th graders will meet briefly with a high school School Counselor to review their schedule/classes for 9th grade. At that time, if there are any conflicts in the students schedules they will work with the School Counselor to resolve the conflict. Please keep in mind that schedules can still change over the summer.
Grade 7: School Counselors are looking for 7th grade volunteers for our Walk Around Days on 8/14 & 8/20 10am-2pm! As a volunteer, rising 8th graders will offer tours, help with lockers, and answer any questions the incoming 7th graders may have. Lunch is provided if your child stays the whole day. If your child is interested in helping us out, have them look for the sign up in their School Counseling Classroom This is a great opportunity for our rising 8th graders to gain leadership experience!

Notes from the Nurse
Starting the day with breakfast is crucial for students to stay healthy, focused and energized throughout their school day. Eating a balanced breakfast helps prevent headaches and stomach aches, which often occur when students skip this important meal. For those with little time or no desire to eat in the morning sending your child to school with easy grab-and-go snacks like yogurt cups, fruit cups, granola bars, protein bars, breakfast crackers, etc. will provide them with the fuel they need, when they need it, to remain in class for a successful day of learning. Breakfast options are also available for purchase in the Cafeteria during advisory, please encourage your child to utilize that option as well if you have set up an account. Thank you!
If you would like your child to be able to receive Tylenol, Motrin, cough drops or lotion during the school day, please make sure you have logged onto Power School and updated your child's Consent to Treat form for this school year.
Access the form on the RHAM Middle School Website under the PARENTS tab:

School Bus Monitoring
Parents & families are able to monitor the progress of the bus that transports their child(ren) to and from school in real time using a computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone. Please note that the monitoring of bus progress is restricted to the families of students riding their assigned bus.
Please use this link for more detailed information and to register: Transportation Information
We wanted to share some key details about the MyRideK12 app and what can affect its updates.
- The app’s tracking is typically about 2 minutes behind real-time.
- For the best updates, your phone should have at least three bars of signal.
- The bus also needs a strong signal for its location to update properly.
Because of these factors, especially in rural areas, there may be times when the app’s updates are slower or less accurate.
We appreciate your understanding and are happy to answer any questions.
