Information For All Students
5 Hour Pre-Licensing & Boating Safety Courses
SUNY Adirondack will be offering a live synchronous 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course on the following dates:
- April 14th from 9 am - 2 pm
- July 7th from 5 pm - 10 pm
This five-hour pre-licensing course is required by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for all applicants who want to take a road test for a driver’s license. A MV-278 completion certificate needed for road test appointments will be issued at the conclusion of this class. Pre-registration is required and the cost of the course is $55. A NYS Learner's Permit is required.
Also offered through SUNY Adirondack is an About Boating Safely (ABS) course on May 17th from 8:30 am - 5 pm at the SUNY Adirondack campus in Queensbury. The cost of the ABS course is $35. Registration is required. More information about this program and additional offerings can be found online.

Volunteer with Saratoga Hospital SSOAR Program
Open to rising high school juniors and seniors, SSOAR is a unique summer youth program offered at Saratoga Hospital. SSOAR (Students Sharing Opportunities and Responsibilities) provides an opportunity for students to achieve community service hours while volunteering in a healthcare setting. Interested students (of at least 16 years of age) may submit a completed application and will be contacted by email to set up an interview. Students will serve at least 48 hours, generally volunteering 2 four hour shifts for six weeks. Following a successful interview, potential SSOAR participants will complete a health assessment and attend a mandatory SSOAR Orientation held at the end of June. Volunteer at The Way!
Raise money for your class by volunteering at The Way (a gently used clothing store located at 17 Ferry St. in Schuylerville). More information can be found below:
- Students may volunteer Friday 3-5:30, Saturday 8:30-11, or Saturday 11-1:30
- Two to four students at a time can sign up for a shift using Signup Genius
- Volunteer hours will be tracked at the store
- For every student who works 2 hours, The Way will donate $5 to the class they are representing
- The Way will tally up the amount and donate the money to the school once per quarter
Summer Academic Programs
- Young Scholars Science Institute: offered by Skidmore College, this program will incorporate a variety of STEM related subjects with comprehensive hands-on learning in various science areas (biology, microscopy, neuroscience, chemistry, computer science, human physiology, physics, environmental science and more). This opportunity is open to juniors and seniors, is FREE of charge, and will include daily meals. The program will run from July 14 - July 17, 2025. More information can be found here. - Georgetown Pre-College Online Program: this program allows students ages 13 and older to explore their personal interests in the areas of anatomy/physiology, biology, creative writing, cybersecurity, international law, journalism/media, marketing, and much more. - UMass Amherst Pre-College Program: this program is open to rising 10th - 12th graders, offering them firsthand experience with campus life and college-level academics. More information can be found here.
- PREFACE Program at RPI: this summer program is for students entering 11th or 12th grade in the fall who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering or technology. More information can be found here.
- Stony Brook University's Pre-College Summer Program: this summer opportunity allows students to explore college-level subjects in hands-on classes while gaining the confidence and skills needed to make a smooth transition to college. More information can be found here.
- University of Rochester Pre-College Program: this program allows students to discover passions and obtain a true sense of college life. More information can be found here.

Senior Information
Scholarships
Beth Chubb Roberts Memorial Scholarship: to honor the life and legacy of Beth Chubb Roberts, the Schuylerville Teachers’ Association has set up a memorial scholarship fund to give back to graduating Schuylerville students. The memorial scholarship is a broad scholarship that is committed to supporting all of the things Beth stood for. Applicants are asked to submit a one page reflection on their career at Schuylerville and state what their future aspirations are. Please find the scholarship application here. Deadline: May 15, 2025
Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild Scholarship: eligible applicants must be planning to pursue a healthcare career, have an average of 80 or higher, and have a documented record of community service. More information can be found here. Deadline: March 31, 2025
Saratoga Builders Association Scholarship: eligible applicants must be a high school senior or college undergraduate who is planning to pursue construction education at a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university or students who would like to purchase tools and/or equipment for employment/career or to start a business in the construction industry. Saratoga Ancient Order of Hibernians Scholarship: eligible applicants must be graduating seniors who have been accepted as full-time students in a two or four year college, trade school, or other accredited institution of learning. Schuylerville Community Theater: eligible applicants must be high school seniors who wish to pursue a degree in Music, Dance, Drama or Theater Arts. Applications can be downloaded here. Deadline: April 20, 2025
Donald & Suzanne Kelley Memorial Scholarship: eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of Schuylerville Central School and must demonstrate kindness in all aspects of their life. The application and more information can be found here. Deadline: May 1, 2025
Fort Edward Historical Association Senior Student Art Show & Scholarship Competition: eligible participants must be seniors who have been accepted into a college Fine Arts program. More information can be found here. Deadline: March 19, 2025
Adirondack School Counselor Association Scholarship: eligible applicants must be planning to attend a 4-year college or university, planning to major in human services, sociology, psychology, or a related "helping" field; must also have demonstrated a record of serving others in a humanitarian way. Application can be found here. Deadline: April 24, 2025 (application materials must be received by deadline, not postmarked)
The Adirondack Runners (TAR) Scholarship: eligible applicants must be from designated school districts in Warren, Washington, Hamilton, Essex and Saratoga Counties or high school seniors who are TAR members-in-good-standing attending any high school; applicant must be planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college. Zonta Club of Glens Falls Scholarship: eligible applicants must be planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution and demonstrate academic success, school/community involvement and talent/dream for future success. - Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York Scholarship: eligible applicants must be graduating high school seniors or students who will be enrolled at any post high school institution of higher learning. More information, including the application, can be found here. Deadline: May 9, 2025
- Empire State Potato Growers Scholarship: applicant must be a NYS resident, pursuing an agricultural related area of study. More information, including the application, can be found here. Deadline: April 1, 2025
Dollars for Scholars: our local chapter awards thousands of dollars in scholarships at our graduation ceremony for eligible students. The Schuylerville online application can be found here. Once you are on the home page, click on the 'Students and Parents' tab at the top of the page. On this next page, under Student and Parent Login, click on the red Login. This will open the Scholarship America Dollars for Scholars Student Center. You should see 'Don't have an account yet? Create one here.' After clicking on that link in Schuylerville Junior-Senior High School, under 'High School Name,' click on the blue link that reads 'Choose this school.' You will then be directed to several pages of info that students need to fill in...only those with asterisks are required. For questions about the Dollars for Scholars Program, please follow up with your counselor.
Junior Information
Empire Girls State: This is a program open to junior students (ranked in the top 1/3 of their graduating class) in New York State who have an interest in learning more about the Government Process, running campaigns, and writing bills. If you would like more information or would like to become a potential candidate from our high school, please see your school counselor by March 4th. Upcoming SAT/ACT Testing Information
The SAT and the ACT will be offered on the following (Saturday) National testing dates during the 2024-2025 school year. The cost of the SAT is $68. The ACT has a basic fee of $55.50, with an optional writing test (cost with writing is $70.25). If the cost of these tests presents a hardship, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Please check with Mrs. Rust or Mrs. O'Brien.

SUNY College Fairs
Looking to learn more information about the various SUNY campuses and what they offer? Attend one of the upcoming SUNY College Fairs and meet face-to-face with SUNY representatives to find the perfect SUNY campus for you! The spring 2025 SUNY College Fairs have been announced! College Fair @ SUNY ADK
On Thursday, March 13th, interested juniors will have the opportunity to attend the Spring College Fair at SUNY Adirondack. Permission slips have been sent home and must be returned to Student Services by Thursday, March 6th in order to attend this trip. (This field trip will be capped at 60 students.) Schuylerville Dollars for Scholars® is a nonprofit foundation supporting academic success in the Schuylerville Central School District. This organization aims to help students achieve their educational goals by raising scholarship funds, establishing endowments, providing assistance with college readiness and the financial aid process, and distributing scholarships each year.
