These hardworking students have put in so much effort and are thrilled to share their amazing performance with you. We can't wait to see them shine!
PTO will be on site with a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds going back to funding events and experiences for all three elementary schools.
Thank you to Ja'Duke Center For The Performing Arts and the Greenfield Savings Bank for all of their support in this production!
Admission is free to all!
FEBRUARY IS SOCIAL AWARENESS MONTH
February is social awareness month. As we wind down the month, we have been teaching and learning about all of the ways one can become more socially aware. It is the ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others, including those from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The ability to understand social and ethical norms for behavior, and to recognize family, school, and community resources and supports.
We hope you have been hearing about the ways in which our students have been learning how to be more socially aware while also modeling for our students your own skills!
Student Spotlights
Greenfield Middle School students and staff had a ball in a friendly competition of dodgeball before the break! The students showed the staff up and came away winners! Great fun was had by all!
Galileo on Trial Again!
Each year Ms. Creek's Advanced European History class reenacts the trial of Galileo, who is tried for heresy and his belief that the Earth revolves around the sun, known as the Copernican Theory. Students take on the roles of each member in the trial and a special judge is picked to oversee the trial. This year, Ms. Kinsmith, served as the honorable judge. Additionally, parents and families are invited to attend as part of the gallery and are able to see all of their student's hard work pay off. Great job!
Rock-n-Read at GMS!
GMS held its 4th annual Rock and Read-a-thon February 12th-16th in support of National Black History month. It was a way to promote reading of Black authors and people (both nonfiction and fiction) in a different and quiet space at the middle school. Students and staff signed up for 15 minute slots to enjoy quiet time reading. Thank you to Ms. Herlihy, GMS Reading Interventionist, for continuing this wonderful tradition!
Look who's been caught bee-ing amazing!
Another week and another wave of rock stars in the Green Wave Nation showing everyone how truly wonderful and amazing our students are! 💚
Mrs. Hurteau's Kindergarten class earned bookmarks for showing kindness to Mrs. Hurteau when she came back from leave!
Making others feel welcomed on their first day of school is a great way to show kindness to new friends!
3rd grade student Aliza earned a Bee Kind award for always making the effort to be kind to her classmates just because she notices they need it!
3rd grade student Parker is always thinking of other people and treats everyone with kindness which is why he earned a Bee Kind bookmark!
Taylor A. showed kindness by sharing with her peers! She brought extra snacks for the classroom snack share bin.
Student Athlete of the Week
Luca Siano - Green Wave Hockey
Junior Luca Siano finished the week with 1 goal and 1 assist in the Western MA Class A Hockey
Tournament. Luca showed great leadership skills on and off the ice this week: on the ice with
his effort and production and off the ice with leadership in the locker room. More importantly, Luca continually gives back to the hockey community as a whole. He donated his time on Sunday afternoon-evening to referee for the local FCHA Collins Cup. Coach Bouchard said, "He is always looking to give back to the hockey community that he grew up in." Great job, Luca and congratulations!
Thank you Greenfield Education Foundation!
We are beyond grateful for the support that we have received from the Greenfield Education Foundation! With the funding they have raised, the schools have been able to:
1. Purchase a scroll saw for the Construction, Manufacturing, and Tech Design classes at GHS.
2. Purchase brushes, paint, and other art supplies for the Art Club at GHS.
3. Purchase musical instruments (1 flute, 1 trumpet, 2 trombones, 1 alto saxophone) for the 4th grade instrument lessons.
4. Purchase Scholastic Magazines for all of our elementary school students.

Sleep and Your Health
Sleep affects your health. Regular sleep is important because young peoples’ bodies grow and build muscle during sleep. Our bodies need rest to repair damage, fight illness, and clear toxins. Our minds need time to rest and relax.
Did you know that sleep also affects learning, memory, motor skills, and our body’s ability to fight infections?
Click HERE to learn more about how lack of sleep affects how kids learn.
People need different amounts of sleep depending on their age. School-aged children need 9-12 hours and teenagers need 8-10 hours of sleep every night. Yet 45% of teens report getting less than 8 hours sleep per night.
Tips can help you get a good night’s sleep:
Establish a bedtime routine.
Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day
Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, and a good temperature
Remove electronic devices from the bedroom
Avoid eating or drinking before bedtime.
Physical activity can help you fall asleep easier at night. Physical activity helps you immediately feel better, function better, and sleep better. It also reduces anxiety.
