Dear 8th Grade Families,
We are excited to announce that our 8th-grade students will be visiting Palatine High School on Monday, December 9th! This field trip will give students an opportunity to learn more about the high school experience and prepare for their transition.
Details of the Trip:
- Departure: During 3rd period
- Return: During 7th period (students will have lunch upon their return to Winston)
Consent forms will be sent home on Monday, December 2nd, and must be returned to your child’s 3rd-period teacher no later than Thursday, December 6th.

**Viaje de Estudio para Estudiantes de 8º Grado a Palatine High School
Estimadas familias de 8º grado,
Nos complace anunciar que nuestros estudiantes de 8º grado visitarán Palatine High School el lunes 9 de diciembre. Este viaje ofrecerá a los estudiantes la oportunidad de aprender más sobre la experiencia en la escuela secundaria y prepararse para su transición.

- Regreso: Durante el 7º período (los estudiantes almorzarán a su regreso a Winston)

In the event of inclement weather this year, our district/school conducted an eLearning practice day.
During the week of November 20, we practiced an eLearning day at school. During this practice, all students practiced joining their virtual Google Meet link in their classroom so that they have some experience with how they will access the Google Meet link in the event of an eLearning day. On that practice day, all students will bring home their devices, case, and charger including our K-2 students. All students will be expected to complete an online activity on their Chromebook to ensure that they are able to log in to their Chromebook at home and connect to their home WiFi. Our Annual Winston Campus Spelling Bee is coming up! The Spelling Bee will take place on Wednesday, December 4th from 2:15-3:45. The winner of the Spelling Bee will have the opportunity to participate in our District Spelling Bee hosted in February. Any students who are interested in participating should email Mrs. Kiely or Mr. Suarez.
¡Nuestro Concurso Anual de Ortografía del Campus Winston se acerca! El Concurso de Ortografía se llevará a cabo el miércoles 4 de diciembre de 2:15 a 3:45. El ganador del Concurso de Ortografía tendrá la oportunidad de participar en nuestro Concurso de Ortografía del Distrito que se llevará a cabo en febrero. As shared, all 8th graders will graduate on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
For families considering summer school in District 211 in June, Superintendent Small shared that although their summer school start date cannot be changed, District 211 is ready to work with families to accommodate any missed days.
They understand our extended schedule and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for students. Families should coordinate directly with their child’s new high school to develop a plan.

Para las familias que estén considerando la escuela de verano en el Distrito 211 en junio, el Superintendente Small compartió que aunque la fecha de inicio de su escuela de verano no se puede cambiar, el Distrito 211 está listo para trabajar con las familias para acomodar cualquier día perdido.
Entienden nuestro horario extendido y están comprometidos a garantizar una transición sin problemas para los estudiantes. Las familias deben coordinar directamente con la nueva escuela secundaria de su hijo para desarrollar un plan.

Please remember that school starts at 7:35 AM each day, and students should be in class and ready to learn at that time. The school doors are open for students to enter at 7:15 AM, which gives them 20 minutes to get their breakfast, get organized, say a quick hello to friends, and start the day. Please be aware that if a student comes to school after the 7:35 AM bell, or is not in class at the time of the 7:35AM bell, they are considered tardy. Multiple tardies to school will result in administrative follow up, and problem solving to help support student attendance.
**Por favor, recuerde que la escuela comienza a las 7:35 AM todos los días y los estudiantes deben estar en clase y listos para aprender a esa hora. Las puertas de la escuela abren a las 7:15 AM, lo que les da 20 minutos para desayunar, organizarse, saludar a sus amigos y comenzar el día.
