Thanks to our PTC and Room Parents for sharing the following information with caregivers. In case you missed it, below is the need-to-know info for this week.

Celebration Time: 1:30-2:30 (classroom volunteers may arrive at 1:15 to set up)

Parade: At around 1:25, our students will begin their parade through the building. Weather permitting, we will exit out by the kindergarten playground and past the front of the school before re-entering by the cafeteria. Visitors are welcome to watch the parade from outside in front. If the weather does not cooperate, we will not parade outside.

Volunteers: In order to maintain the safety and security for all at Avoca West, a maximum of 4 parent/caregiver volunteers will be permitted to attend the parties per classroom (no younger siblings, please).

Please keep in mind the following reminders for Halloween at School

• No masks or face coverings
• No pretend weapons
• No costumes to be worn during the day (only for the parade and party)
• Be mindful of any costumes that depict stereotypes or cultural appropriation

We hope you'll join us for our first ever Screen Sanity Caregiver Community Night. Although Mrs. Ryan and I will be facilitating the discussion, we will definitely be looking to learn alongside our caregivers as we share the challenge of raising our own children! We hope you can join us for practical ways to maximize the benefits of technology while minimizing the harmful side effects.

Featuring expert-led videos, discussion questions, and take-home tips, Screen Sanity Caregiver Community Night will cover today’s most pressing digital health topics. Attendees will will walk away with a vision for:

• Creating screentime boundaries,
• Introducing smartphones,
• Managing screen-related meltdowns, and
• Protecting kids from mature or unsafe content.

Do you or someone you know in the district have a child who turned 3 or 4 years old by September 1, 2024? If so, we still have available spots in our morning preschool class! The class meets Monday through Thursday from 8:50 a.m. to 11:10 a.m., and we would love to welcome your child. Thursday, October 31st -- Halloween Costume Parade & Classroom Celebrations (please see info from your room parents)

• 1:15pm -- Volunteers arrive & set up (only 4 visiting adults per classroom permitted)
• 1:25pm -- Costume Parade (through interior of school and outside past front of building - weather permitting)
• 1:30-2:30pm -- Classroom Celebrations

Tuesday, November 5th -- NO SCHOOL - ELECTION DAY

Wednesday, November 13th -- Orchestra Concert

Thursday, November 14th -- 6:30-8:00pm Screen Sanity Caregiver Connection Night (at MM) - see above to save a spot!

November 25th-November 29th -- No School - Happy Thanksgiving!
