Central Scoop
January 2025
A Note from Mrs. Williams
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break. As we step into January, we are approaching the end of the first semester on January 17, with report cards being emailed to families on January 22. This is a great time to celebrate student growth and set new goals for the second half of the year. Thank you for your continued dedication to our students—I’m looking forward to a strong start to 2025 together!

Milk Money
We want to remind families that all student lunches are provided free of charge through the school meal program. However, if a student chooses to take milk only, without the rest of the meal, there is a charge for the milk. This cost will be added to the student’s meal account and could result in a negative balance if insufficient funds exist. To avoid any surprises, we encourage families to monitor their student’s meal accounts regularly and add funds as needed. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.

C.A.P. (Challenging Academic Potential)
The staff at Davison Community Schools want to recognize the children in our district who have the potential to develop outstanding abilities. Every effort is made to identify and accommodate these needs early in a child’s career. It is known that the earlier this is done, the more likely these children will develop their special abilities to their fullest potential.
Some forms of giftedness can be fostered by enriching the regular curriculum or extracurricular activities, while others are addressed through placement into the Challenging Academic Potential classes. Parents are encouraged to share their special knowledge of their child’s interests and talents with their child’s teacher, who may be able to draw upon it during daily instruction.
Parents or teachers may nominate students in grades K-5 for achievement and ability evaluations at this time. Parent Nomination forms are available by clicking the link and in the Curriculum & Grants office at 1490 N. Oak Rd. These forms must be completed and returned to the office before February 14, 2025. Testing and evaluation of each nominated student will be completed during the second semester of the 2024-25 school year. These recommendations will be communicated to parents, and test results will be sent to teachers to enhance each student's achievement. If you have any questions, call Dr. Angela Hards, Director of Curriculum, at (810) 591-0808.
Dressing warm for recess
Please have your children bring warm outdoor winter gear to school every day to make sure they stay warm while they are outside for recess. Please write your child's name inside their winter gear. This helps prevent items from getting lost at school. Students spend approximately 20 min outside each day.
If your child needs winter gear, please reach out to Mrs. Demo.
Visitors at Central
All visitors at Central will be asked to ring the doorbell at the front entrance. A member from the office will greet you through the microphone; please state your name, your child's name, and what brings you in that day. Parents, guardians, and other family members will be allowed into Davison Community School buildings to:
· Drop off/pick up student medications
· Attend IEPs/504s or Parent-Teacher Conferences
· Or as an Approved Volunteer
Student Sign In
If you are dropping your child off late, please walk your child to the main entrance, ring the bell, and wait for an office staff member to let you in to sign your student in for the day.
Student Sign Out
If you pick your child up early, ring the bell outside, and a staff member will greet you. Your student will then be called to the office, and you will sign them out. Please be sure to present your picture ID for identification.
Birthday Treats
Central students and staff LOVE to celebrate birthdays! Due to ongoing concerns regarding food allergies, medical conditions and dietary restrictions, Davison Community Schools no longer allows food treats, including cake and cupcakes, to be sent in.
Please talk with your child’s teacher about alternate ideas for celebrating your child’s birthday .
