NAHS Counseling Department News
Test
Welcome back, New Albany Eagles! We hope you had a fun and relaxing summer.
New This Year
To serve you better, we like to keep our student to counselor ratio as even as possible. We’ve reassigned our alphabet break-up (by last name) for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to balance numbers.
Seniors, you’ll keep the same counselor you’ve had for the past three years to maintain continuity with graduation and college planning.
We look forward to getting to know all of you and assisting you with your academic, career, and social-emotional journey!
Schedule Change Requests
This time of year, it can take up to a week to process once you’ve submitted the form. Typically, we complete them much faster.
Check your email and PowerSchool daily to get updates on your schedule.
While waiting for the outcome of your request, please follow your schedule exactly as it is in PowerSchool at the time of the class so attendance records are correct.
Forms are due by Aug. 21! We do appreciate your patience. Thank you for understanding!
Counselor Appointments
This year will go quick! You can book appointments online starting Aug. 26.
College Application & Transcript Procedures
Seniors and parents:
We’ll begin sending all school forms, including transcripts, to colleges sometime early to mid-September. Colleges require all summer grades on our transcripts, including Summer Senior Seminar and any other summer courses. In addition to transcripts, colleges require us to send a secondary school report and a school profile. Collecting this information takes at least three to four weeks after the start of school.
Colleges may ask you to submit your application materials as soon as possible to get priority housing, scholarships, and admission decisions. Ethically, colleges can’t require you to submit your application materials before their actual deadline for a chance at more money, better housing, or admission. If you have questions or concerns about this process, contact the College Admissions Office for clarification.
We’ll have an evening meeting for parents and students (info below!) and will be going in to Government classes at the beginning of September to share information about the college application process.
Please sign our Parent Consent Transcript Release if you haven’t yet. We need your signature on file to send transcripts and forms to colleges. Send an email to Mrs. Kirtland, our College Center Assistant, if you would like us to confirm that you’ve signed this form.
