Recipes & Tips
Jungle Jam & Juicy Jam
Goodness Grows signature product has many ways to enjoy it. Jam on toast, of course, but you can really get creative with our pepper and non-pepper jams! Mix into yogurt, add to a turkey sandwich, spread between layers of a cake, serve on crostini with some sharp cheese...I'm getting hungry just typing this! We'd love to hear your favorite ways to enjoy our jams!
Oregano
Oregano means "Joy of the Mountain" in Ancient Greek. A member of the mint family, oregano is native to the Mediterranean and is widely used in cuisines across the region. It was once believed that cows that grazed in fields full of oregano had tastier meat. While I cannot verify that oregano has an impact on beef cattle, I can say the the leaves impart loads of flavor and are often paired with lemon or tomato. Oregano is the perfect herb to add to pasta dishes, omelets, bread, roast potatoes, kebabs, chicken, lentils...the list is endless.
Apples
Did you know - apples are a member of the rose family!?!? There are more than 2,500 varieties of apples grown in the United States, and they come in all shades of red, green, and yellow. Our crew had a blast picking these Jonathon and Golden Delicious varities at Huffman's this week. If you are looking for a fun autumn activity, we highly recommend apple picking!
Peppers in Oil
Use these refrigerator peppers as an appetizer, in salads, or as a condiment - or just eat them straight out of the jar! No matter what, they'll be delicious!
Appetizer: Serve roasted peppers in oil as part of an antipasto platter or cheese board. They will go perfectly with some crusty bread and burrata.
Salad: Add chopped roasted peppers to your next green salad or pasta salad.
Sandwich: Add sliced or chopped roasted peppers to sandwiches or wraps.
Condiment: Use the oil from peppers in oil to flavor dressings or drizzle on bread.
Relish tray: Serve roasted peppers in oil as a side dish on a relish tray.
Pasta: Puree roasted peppers in oil with cream and serve over pasta.
