February is upon us, meaning we are half way through the winter. February is a short month so, March will be here with Daylight Savings, 2025 Kindergarten Information Night, Specialist Night, and our general education Intervention breakfast.

Forestdale School annual Free Ice Cream Day for all students will be on Friday, February 14th... February break is scheduled from February 17th-February 21st... Registration for students entering Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year will open on Monday February 24th. If you have any questions on upcoming events don't hesitate to reach out to my front office staff.

Registration for students entering Kindergarten in September of 2025 will open on Monday, February 24th.

Go to the Sandwich Public Schools website(www.sandwichk12.org) to register. Navigate to the blue tab on top of the page and click Our Schools. This will take you to Kindergarten Registration and Information link. Please make sure to read the list of required documents that need to be uploaded with the registration or brought into the office to complete the registration. Be sure you are registering for the 2025-2026 school year.

Our Lost and Found area is growing. If your student has lost clothing please have them come down and look or feel free to visit the multi purpose area, adjacent to the main office.

We will look to donate all remaining lost and found clothing during February break.

Friday, January 31st, our 1st grade students engaged in a writing celebration on Wild and Endangered Animals from their ELA reading unit. Families were invited into classrooms to enjoy student writing and presentations.

The Sandwich Public Schools District Administrative Team is in the process of Strategic Planning through the year 2030. There are a series of planning dates over the next few months to develop the vision for the SPS. The planning team consists of 35 educators, parents, community members, and students with a rich diversity of perspectives and backgrounds.

As this process has unfolded the question that comes up frequently is: What is the vision of the Sandwich Public Schools into the year 2030?

Students should thrive in an environment where they develop:

• Purpose- Students attack challenges they know to be important, that make their world better
• Essentials- Students aquire the skill sets and mind-sets needed in an increasingly innovative world
• Agency- Students own their learning, becoming self-directed, intrinsically motivated adults
• Knowledge-What students learn is deep and retained, enabling them to create to make, to teach others
