Inclement Weather & AMI Update
Thank you for your flexibility as the WSD has used two traditional snow days and five AMI (alternative methods of instruction) days.
In case you missed it, this article and graphic contains a helpful reminder of our snow day schedule and process for the year. Though our current Academic Calendar has the last day of school set for May 30, with this plan, students could get out earlier. The official last day of school will not be changed until we are well through snow season to avoid multiple revisions. You can reference the image below to see an update of where we are in the schedule.
We understand this may be a little confusing, so we will share this graphic with a new check mark noting each used snow day to help you stay informed on our current status.

Prop L
The Wentzville School District Board of Education voted unanimously to place Proposition L – a zero-rate-change bond initiative – on the April 8, 2025, ballot. If passed, Prop L would address facility needs across the district by funding enhanced safety and security measures district-wide; renovating legacy buildings such as Heritage Elementary, Wentzville Middle, and Holt High School; resurfacing all WSD elementary playgrounds to improve accessibility; replacing turf at Holt, Liberty, and Timberland high schools' athletic fields; and more. Learn how Prop L would impact our school at wsdlegacy.com.

Benefits of Getting Outside After School!
Spring is headed our way and we’re loving the sunshine! We wanted to take a quick moment to share a few reasons why getting playtime outside is so amazing for your kiddos!
~ Confidence Building + Creativity: The way that kids play in nature has a lot less structure than many types of indoor play. Figuring out how they want to play in outdoor settings activates their creativity! Kids’ use of imagination while playing outside increases their confidence and boosts problem-solving skills.
~ Extra Movement + Exercise: Running and playing outside are great forms of exercise! While some kids participate in sports, it’s easy to forget that simply playing outside is also an awesome way to get some extra movement into their day.
~ Mood Boost + Ways to Connect: That happy mood that accompanies exercise also applies to kids! In addition to having fun outside with friends, playing outside helps boost kids’ mood and can help relieve stress. Also, a walk around the block or playtime at the park can provide extra opportunities to connect with your child and hear more about their school day.
However you choose to enjoy this lovely weather, we hope you get to experience some of these benefits right along with your kiddos. As always, we’re here to help if there’s anything we can do to support your students and your family.

WSD FOCUS Update
Signing Students In/Out
(Very Important Information for Parents- Please Read)
With the update to the Focus software, the way you will sign your student in and out at the office has changed. We are no longer using the touch screen at the front desk. This has been replaced with a scanner kiosk that parents must now use for signing students in and out.
To use the scanner, you must access the barcode of your student located within the Focus app. There are instructions attached on how to access the barcode. Barcodes are not accessible on the Focus website, only the app. If you do not have the barcode when you are signing a student in or out, you must know your student's ID# and enter it manually. Please take the time to screenshot your barcode(s) for easy access when in the office, or write down student numbers in an easy to locate place. Your help in being prepared with this information will allow for a more quick and efficient check-in/out process.

The Cost of an Absence
Did you know? Research shows that students missing just 2 days a month in Kindergarten are 25% more likely to be held back by 3rd grade. Consistent attendance builds stronger reading skills! Students who miss just 2 days of school a month are also less likely to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade. Help students stay on track by making sure they are in school each day they are not sick.

Wear It Wednesday
Wear it Wednesday!
Every Wednesday at Lakeview is a House Spirit Day, which we call WEAR IT WEDNESDAY! If your child wears a shirt reflecting their house color, they get one house point. We recognize not all families or students have official house shirts, and we want to recognize students who rock their house colors. As a reminder the colors are:
Altruismo - Black
Amistad - Red
Isibindi - Green
Reveur - Blue
If your child comes to school in a house shirt OR wearing a shirt of their color, they earn a point for their house.
