Career Center Moving Forward with Learning!



Welcoming Fall with Open Arms,



Covid-19.

Hard to believe we have been in school for the past 6 plus weeks! Yet, here we are fully engaged and getting back to “normal”. As we all know Mesa County has done a great job with monitoring Covid-19 and has move to “Protect your Neighbor” status. This has given us some additional freedoms, yet we will continue to focus on Washing our Hands, Wearing Masks and Social Distancing. A big shout out to all of you for keeping up on your daily Covid-19 checkers. I know it can be a bummer at times, yet it is important as it helps us keep YOU HEALTHY. Update- Valley School moving to Career Center Campus.

Valley School is on track for the BIG move over to the Career Campus come 2nd semester. The building site will be prepped mid-October with the building being set down mid-December and ready for kids first day back from Winter break. Exciting!



Parking during times of Construction.

There will be limited parking on the North side of Career Center Campus starting Mid-October. We will keep everyone posted with updates to assist with traffic flow. Student drop-off and pick-up will be at the front of Career Center as in the past. Busses will have their same routes.



All in all we have had a great start to the school year. Students are engaged, lots of learning is happening and best of all… WE GET TO SEE EACH OTHER! Let’s continue to be positive, work toward our goals and treat each other with respect.

Compact Engines Hosts Skills USA Hot Laps

Compact Engines will be hosting Skills USA Hot Laps at Grand Junction Motor Speedway on October 7, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Students in the Compact Engines class that have completed the waivers will be able to drive the D51 Spec Racer and try to get the fastest time. Also, be sure to get your D51 Spec Racing League Kit today!

Summer Sample

Career Center Spotlight. Today, we are shining the spotlight on Summer Sample who is a second year teacher of Health Science at the Career Center. We are glad to have her on the CC Crew! Summer loves to hike and fish. She has 3 dogs and 2 teenage boys as well as a supportive husband at home that keep her busy and hopping! Health Science offers a wide variety of skills in the medical and healthcare fields. Students get hands on experience performing tasks common in the healthcare industry including learning to take vital signs and documentation. They will also attend field trips, learn medical terminology, explore some of the bodies major systems... Digestive, Respiratory and Circulatory and hear medical professional guest speakers

Lane Seger

Career Center Spotlight. Lane Seger from Health Science is starting out our Monday Spotlight. Lane is an active outdoorsman and enjoys working with people and anything that includes promoting good health. This is year # 2 for Lane at the Career Center and while he stays busy and engaged with his students here, guiding them in the health field and supporting their success, he is also part owner in an exercise company with his brother. Lane is an upbeat and driven team member of CC!

William McGinniss

Career Center Spotlight. Say hello to William McGinniss. He enjoys board games, sports, football, hockey , cooking and eating! This year he has joined the CC staff teaching Horticulture where students will learn a variety of skills including growing & caring for plants as well as hands on activities such as creating floral gift baskets, caring for the school campus plants and running the floral shop. Welcome Mr. McGinniss!

Debbie Neill

Career Center Spotlight. Please say hello to Debbie Neill who is our Early Childhood Program teacher. Debbie began her career in Preschool and has moved into teaching others how to become early childcare providers. She enjoys traveling within the United States and has hopes to visit all 50 on her bucket list! She enjoys live music with smooth jazz and soft rock being her favorites, but enjoys a variety of styles. She also enjoys live theater. Debbie recently joined the "Red Hat Society" and has enjoyed the company of older women and the knowledge they have to share about life in general. She loves spending time with her daughter with Down Syndrome and Autism. Debbie is a strong advocate for people of varying abilities. She is a person of faith and believes there is a purpose for her life and the people she encounters along the way.

Cecily Marolf

Career Center Spotlight. You may recognize Cecily Marolf who is the Early Childcare paraprofessional and enjoys biking, hiking, camping, four wheeling, snowmobiling, scrapbooking and crafts. She loves spending time with her family. Cecily and Debbie Neill make a great team in Early Childcare and love what they do. Today also happens to be a special day for Cecily, so please be sure to say hello and wish her a Happy Birthday when you see her!
