MES Weekly Scoop

Dear Students, Staff, and Families,

As we approach the end of January, it's hard to believe we're already nearing the halfway point of the 3rd quarter! This is a great time to check your child's grades and communicate any needs for your child. We must place emphasis on the progress our students have made and set goals for the last half of the school year.

Kansas Day - January 29th

We're excited to celebrate Kansas Day on Wednesday, January 29th. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about the rich history and heritage of our great state. Be sure to ask your child about any activities they participated in that day!

Academic Progress

Teachers are working diligently with students to ensure they are meeting their academic goals. If you have questions or concerns about your child's progress, please don't hesitate to reach out to their teacher. We encourage families to continue working together collaboratively and encourage strong study habits at home.

Looking Ahead

As we approach February, keep an eye out for information on upcoming events, including parent-teacher conferences and spring testing. It's also important for students to consistently attend school to maintain their learning momentum.

I had the opportunity to visit several classrooms throughout the week, and although I do not always take pictures, I've been so impressed by the engaging learning environments and the meaningful interactions I observed.

They will represent our school at the county spelling bee on February 11th.

The next, Dads at the Door, will be on Tuesday, February 4th. Come join in on the fun!

Marysville Elementary is committed to academic growth for all students. Assessments are a critical part of measuring student progress and guiding instruction.

Our school uses the CHAMPS Framework to promote a positive learning environment. Students demonstrating readiness, respectfulness, and responsibility may receive positive office referrals and recognition.

We have a matrix system that we use for minor, moderate, and major infractions. Minor infractions (disruptive behavior, non-compliance, etc.) are typically handled by the classroom teacher and may result in a think sheet, parent contact, or detention. Moderate infractions (chronic minor behaviors, threats, cheating, etc.) may result in those previously listed as well as an office referral or suspension. Major infractions (chronic behaviors, violence, etc.) are handled by administrators and you will be notified to discuss the consequences further. Please note for lunch, there is only one option at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience and will notify families when this changes. Please keep in mind that the students are offered salad, veggies, and fruit from the salad bar daily.

Along with many other great activities to celebrate Kansas Day, educators across the great state of Kansas get together to participate in an exciting day of virtual field trips that are tailored for grades PK-8. From history to STEM, Fine Arts to ELA, and even Careers, these online events are packed with engaging, educational sessions that will spark curiosity and inspire students!

Classrooms can:

• Access recordings for every session, available on-demand within one hour and through the rest of the school year!

• Enjoy sessions crafted to make learning memorable and fun!
