Dear Father Doyle Families,

Today the Church celebrates the feast of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music. Having previously served at St. Pius V School in Providence, a school run by the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia, I have always had a particular fondness for and devotion to St. Cecilia. Indeed, to remember and pray to St. Cecilia is to reflect upon ways in which music can serve as a pathway to the Divine - a means to seek comfort, to offer praise, and to pray. As St. Augustine remarked "he who sings prays twice!" St. Cecilia, pray for us!

I am pleased to share that our Veterans' Day Memorial flags which were on display for our annual prayer service generated $569.00 for Operation Stand Down. Father Doyle School has been a long time supporter of Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, the state's primary nonprofit resource for homeless and at-risk veterans.

Lastly, a reminder that student Vision Screening is scheduled for this Monday, 11/25. Grades K-5 and 7 will be screened if they have not already provided vision screening outcomes performed within the last year. Please note that reminders were sent home only to those family's who have not provided documentation of appropriate vision screenings to date. If you did not receive a reminder, your student is all set!

FJVD is hosting a Food Drive! We will be hosting a Thanks for Giving Back Food Drive running through Tuesday, November 26th. See below for more information
Christmas Shoppe help needed! It's hard to believe that our Christmas Shoppe is only about a month away! Each year, students purchase and wrap gifts for family and friends at the shoppe. At this time, we are looking for volunteers to help with our store on Wednesday, December 4th and Thursday, December 5th. See below for details.

FJVD Drama Club Presents Shrek, Jr.!

Join us for another spectacular show presented by the FJVD Drama Club! Tickets are now on sale for Shrek, Jr. at http://fjvd.booktix.com. The shows are December 7th at 7:00pm and December 8th at 2:00pm.

Christmas Shoppe - Volunteers Needed!

We're already preparing for our annual Christmas Shoppe! Every year, students look forward to purchasing gifts for their family and friends at our school-run shop.

But we can't do it without your help! We're always looking for volunteers to serve as assistants and gift wrappers. You can sign up here to help! If you don't see a shift that works for you, please feel free to let us know.

Thanks for Giving Back Food Drive

FJVD will be hosting a Thanks for Giving Back Food Drive running until Tuesday, November 26th. All students are invited to bring in non-perishable food items for the drive (please no glass containers). Items can be left in students' homeroom classrooms and will be collected by school staff.

All donated food items will go to Project Hand Up coordinated with the help of the Coventry Girl Scout Troop 284. Thank you for you support!
