Spring Term - 9th January 2025

Message from the Executive Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
It was wonderful to welcome back all the children this week and I hope you all had a relaxing break over the last few weeks. We are very much looking forward to the Spring term which is always incredibly busy and very productive; lots of fun and learning for our children.
We have recently updated our attendance policy in line with changes from the Department of Education. Attendance of children in school has become a real focus. Please ensure you are familiar with the policy.
Wednesday 11th February is Rags 2 Riches day. More information will come out shortly but if you are having a new year sort out, please keep these clothes to one side.
Reminder that the deadline for applications to year 3 and for reception places is next Wednesday, 15th January. All year 2 pupils at HISN will be allocated a place but parents do need to apply in order for this to happen. Please ensure that your application is done in good time or it will be considered as late and processed as such.
Next week we are pleased to host a coffee morning with our Child Wellbeing Practitioner who will focus on supporting parents to manage their child's emotions. Details are below so please come along.
Finally, tickets for the HPPA Neon disco night are already available. Please see the information below if you are interested.
As it is so cold, please ensure your child has their coat in school and do encourage them to wear it!
Have a good weekend once it arrives and Happy New Year to all our families.
Ms H Lockey

MHST Coffee Morning: Managing Emotions
On Tuesday 14th January at 9am we will be holding a parent coffee morning in the Rose Hall at Hampton Junior School.
This coffee morning will be led by Jess Butler, the Child Wellbeing Practitioner allocated to our school from the Mental Health Support Team.
Jess will be doing a presentation around what emotional literacy is, as well as tips for promoting emotional literacy and effective emotion regulation at home. Following the presentation there will be the opportunity to ask questions and to share your tips and experiences with other parents and carers.
Parents from HISN and HJS are welcome to attend.

Clubs
Start back next week. Please ensure if you need to collect your child earlier that you communicate it this to the club to enable them to bring them out to you as the office is not able to facilitate this.
HJS Gardening Club
The gardening club met for the last time in 2024 and potted some bulbs for their parents/carers. What a fabulous team!
Year 5 News
5GF worked extremely hard in DT to create our photo frames. We used skills involving: measuring, sawing, gluing and cutting. Once we had created our frame, we used mosaic tiles to decorate. We were very proud of our results. Well done all!
‘5GF made a great start to the new year. This week, in Science, we have been exploring which substances are soluble and which are not. Well done all.
Spring Term Club - Little Hands
We encourage creativity and innovation through our hands on science and engineering activities. We promote interactive learning, where the children will learn new concepts whilst engaging in a fun activity, with high quality resources & materials. We take pride in creating a fun environment in which children marvel at magical chemistry experiments with real lab equipment. Discover the phenomena of physics by making their own catapult, marble run, balloon car and so much. As well as exploring biology through terrariums, in our engineering sessions children make robots, suspension bridges, remote controlled cars and so much more! None of our activities are repeated for at least 2 years so there is always something new to discover at each session! Children get to take their projects home which ensures that learning is continued outside of the club, it provides children with a sense of pride and they have a fully functioning toy/project to last them months if not years! Join our club now & unlock your child's big imagination! Spaces are limited, Friday sessions have some spaces available. Don't miss out and click the link below to sign up:
