We are so proud of our scholars! Preliminary results from NWEA testing indicates that many of our scholars have made tremendous growth this year. Thank you to our families for your hard work contributing to these gains. Scholars will take NWEA again in the fall when they return to school. Worried about learning loss over the summer? Thank you to all of the families that attended our Magic Night! Our next family event will be the Back-To-School Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, August 13th at 5:00pm. Families and scholars will have the opportunity to meet their teacher and enjoy some ice cream. All Phalen families are welcome to attend.

PLA@93 is happy to have yearbooks available for purchase again this year. They are available in the front office daily for $20.

This week's community resource is "Melanin in May" hosted at CAFE. Hosted by Tony Styxx, Melanin in May is an event to celebrate black artists, black owned businesses, and black musicians. The event is set to take place on Saturday May 25, 2024 at 8902 E 38th St Indianapolis, IN 46226 from 11am-5pm. Admission is free! Join in the fun with live music, multiple food trucks, and an art walk!

Enrollment for Summer Advantage is open! Are you looking for an excellent summer enrichment program to help scholars maintain their academic skills? PLA@93 is hosting Summer Advantage at our building. This opportunity is open to all of our scholars currently in kindergarten through 5th grade. Current 6th grade scholars can enroll in the summer Advantage program at JRPLA. Programming will take place from June 10th-July 12th. The best part is that this opportunity is completely FREE! You may enroll online at school from 8:00-1:00. Computers will be available. The deadline to receive transportation was April 8th. Applications for scholars received after April 8 will not receive transportation.

PLA@93 is enrolled in the Box Tops for Education program to raise money for our school! Box tops has done away with the traditional box tops clips, but now they have an app where you can scan your receipt and earn points instantly. Box Tops are worth $.10 each and they add up fast! Twice a year, our school receives a check to help pay for whatever we need - equipment, supplies or experiences the kids love! This is a very easy way to earn money for the school. All you have to do is shop, scan, and earn points!

Here's how it works:

1. Buy Box Tops products and scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase.
2. After scanning your receipt, make sure Phalen Leadership Academies School 93 is your selected school in the app.
3. Tap on Give Credit to select your child's classroom. You can scroll down to add a note with your child's name or additional information on who should get credit.
4. The number of Box Tops earned with your receipt will be credited to the classroom you selected.
5. To see where your child's classroom stands on our leaderboard, open the Box Tops app, tap on the school card on the Home screen and check out Fall Leaderboard on the school dashboard.

Want to give credit for a digital or email receipt? Go into the Box Tops app, tap on the My Earnings button at the top of the screen and tap on the transaction you'd like to credit. Scroll past the list of products and tap on Give Credit at the bottom of the screen. Then, select your child's classroom.
