Hello Hollis Families! We are looking forward to diving into a new school year with you next week! Please take a few minutes to review the information below, and as always, please reach out with any questions. We can't wait to see you all soon!

The Parent Club is once again hosting a Back to School Pool Party at the Limestone Pool. Please make sure you save the date of Friday, August 9, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. This will be a great opportunity to connect with old friends and make some new ones before summer officially wraps up. It is also a great opportunity to learn more about the Hollis Parent Club and how you can get involved in the upcoming school year.

Please make sure you save the date for our Back to School Open House on Tuesday, August 13, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. This will be a great time to visit the classrooms, meet your teachers, and drop off supplies. While Open House is a great time to drop off supplies, we realize schedules are busy and not all families will be able to attend. If you are unable to make it, please feel free to bring in school supplies over the first few days of school. We recognize bringing everything in on the first day might be a challenge for some of our youngest students. Make it a goal to have everything at school by the end of the first week.

While at Open House, make sure you stop by the auditorium. We will have several stations setup for students and their families. These include the following:

• Hollis School Board: Stop by and see the most updated options for the renovation of the pool room. Members of the Board will be on site to share updates and the renderings of four possible options will be on display. Families will have the opportunity to provide feedback and ask any questions.
• Hollis Parent Club: Learn about all of the AMAZING things our Parent Club organization does for Hollis. They will have early information on this year's fundraiser and ways that you can get involved to support their efforts.
• Alpha Park Library: Visit the Outreach Department from Alpha Park Library to get signed up for a library card, pick up a little free library swag, and learn about all of the the fun offerings through Alpha Park Library.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 14. The school day officially starts at 8:15 am. Students may arrive as early as 8:00 am. Each morning will begin with an all school morning meeting in the auditorium. The school day ends at 3:15 pm. Please note that school will dismiss at 1:45 during the first week of school (Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday). We will return to regular 3:15 dismissal on Monday, August 19.

Hollis is again pleased to offer before and after school care. Our Latchkey program is run by Mrs. Tonya Kallister. Morning Latchkey begins at 6:30 am and afternoon Latchkey ends at 6:00 pm. Please visit the Hollis webpage for more information, including the fee schedule, parent agreement, and application. Both AM and PM Latchkey will be available beginning on the first day of school.

Hollis hosts three lunch periods each day.

Grades 6-8 eat at 11:30.

Grades K-2 eat at 12:10.

Grades 3-5 eat at 12:30.

While there is some overlap, each lunch period spends about 20 minutes in the cafeteria and about 20 minutes at recess.

Lunch money can be sent in to school as either cash or check. Please send all money in a clearly labeled envelope. Lunch money can also be added to accounts using TeacherEase.

Parents can also use TeacherEase to view student lunch balances.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a strong Parent Club organization here at Hollis. Without the Parent Club, many of our activities and events would not be possible. Our Parent Club meets once each month for about an hour, and they are always looking for new faces to join and support their efforts. Keep an eye on your child’s weekly Friday Folder for ways you can get involved. Additionally, look for them at Open House on Tuesday, August 13.

You will see a new face in the halls this year. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Monica Swanson to Hollis Grade School! Mrs. Swanson joins us from Oak Grove, where she was the fifth and sixth grade math teacher. We are so excited to have her at Hollis and are looking forward to a great year with her in fifth grade.

We are currently seeking a full time paraprofessional, girls basketball coach, assistant girls basketball coach, and assistant volleyball coach. If you are interested in any of these positions, please let us know. Interested paraprofessionals should contact Principal Alisha Schoedel at aschoedel@hollis328.net and interested coaches should contact Athletic Director Phil Quine at pquine@hollis328.net. Hollis is a great place to work and our students are truly the BEST!
