SPECIAL EDITION: Smithsonian Institution's #VoicesAndVotes Exhibit Opening
Smithsonian Opening: Thursday, April 17
Attention museum lovers, history buffs, and interested citizens!
From April 17 through May 29, the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street traveling exhibit Voices And Votes: Democracy in America will be on display in the Mohawk Trail Regional School library. The walk-through exhibit pairs national, historic content with our rural perspective to help us better understand the present through the past. Local historical societies have loaned items to further round out the local representation of this exhibit.
A calendar with the exhibit hours is found below. Mohawk Trail Regional students will be visiting the exhibit in their free time as well as with classes structured to include the exhibit's content. Teachers and students from other district schools have also reserved time to come in. Community members are encouraged to visit during exhibit hours and to attend the six complementary events which may also be found below.
The first evening, April 17th, is a double header! The exhibit opens at 4:30 p.m. Attendees will walk through, be treated to snacks, and younger exhibit-goers will be encouraged to participate in a couple of activities. Then at 6 p.m., the Mohawk Trail Regional Spring Concert begins and will feature protest songs and selections about voting rights and hope for a better world.
