Community Input Needed - Curriculum Adoption
The Poway Unified School District (PUSD) invites you to participate in an important curriculum adoption process. Our district is in the process of selecting a California State-approved Reading Difficulties Risk Screener (RDRS)—a tool used to help identify students (in grades K-2) who may need additional support in learning to read.
We value your input! To learn more and share your feedback, please visit Poway Unified School District’s Curriculum Adoptions webpage.
Digital Citizenship
Protecting personal information is a critical part of helping children build safe and responsible digital habits. Setting strong privacy controls on apps, devices, and accounts helps safeguard your child’s data and limits unwanted access. It is also important to talk with your child about why privacy matters—helping them understand how to manage their own settings and make thoughtful choices online. By staying informed and setting up privacy protections together, we can teach students to take ownership of their digital safety and build a foundation for lifelong responsible technology use.
Secondary Resource: What are the best privacy settings for my computer and smartphone?
Modified Bell Schedule - May 29
Hello Titans,
There will be a modified bell schedule on Thursday, May 29, at Poway High School. School start and dismissal times will remain the same (8:35 am-3:35 pm), but please be aware of class period, break, and lunch times for off-rolls and off-campus passes.
Click here for the Modified Bell Schedule for May 29, 2025.
Trimester 3 Finals Schedule Changes
Trimester 3 Finals will be held from June 10-12 following a modified bell schedule. Click here for the modified bell schedule.
To ensure a smooth testing environment for our students during final exams, off-campus passes will not be distributed during classes from June 10-12. If your student needs to leave, please request a pass 24 hours in advance by calling 858-748-0245 x5113. This is a 24-hour number that is monitored during school hours. Please remind your student that it is their responsibility to pick up the pass as we will not deliver passes to classrooms.
For same-day releases, you must check out your student in person at the PHS front office with your ID. Students can only check out between class periods or during lunch to avoid disrupting finals.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Seniors, It's Scholarship Search Time!
It's scholarship time for our local community organizations, and we are here to help you navigate through this process.
1. Start by exploring our Scholarship Deadline Log. In this document, you will discover lots of great local opportunities. Also, don't forget to check out college and trade school financial aid pages for more options.
2. Connections: Talk to your family and friends to possibly find scholarship gems with employers, or even your job!
3. Stay Informed: Follow us on Instagram @counseling_PHS for the latest scholarship news and reminders.
4. Application Tips: Apply for as many scholarships as possible, even the smaller ones - they add up! Be organized, meet deadlines, and personalize your application to stand out.
5. Be Prepared: Ensure you have all necessary documents, ask for letters of recommendation early. Often times, scholarship applications will ask for a letter of rec from a teacher or counselor as well as a community resource such as an adult or non-family member, employer, club coach, or organization leader. Highlight your strengths and be genuine about your experiences.
6. Begin the FAFSA or DREAM ACT Application: Completing the FAFSA is important so start your application SOON! Check with your college financial aid office for their priority consideration deadline; sometimes it is earlier than the California priority funding deadline of March 2, 2025.
Please note that the FAFSA application is not just for need-based aid; it may be needed for merit-based scholarships, local community scholarships, student loans, and other financial benefits.
Remember, every little bit helps, so take advantage of all available resources. Good luck on your scholarship journey, and reach out if you need support!
