The Westgate Wire-Special Edition

Per Dr. Bein's email on February 3rd, Friday, February 19 will be an eLearning Day. All students will participate in remote learning on that day.

On Thursday, February 18, District 25 staff will be administered their second COVID-19 vaccination. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports that 55% - 83% of people develop at least one systemic symptom (fever, fatigue, headache, chills, muscle aches, joint aches) following the COVID-19 vaccine. There is data regarding the increase in reactions after vaccination two, meaning we could have several staff not well enough to come into work the following day. In order to be proactive, we have decided to make Friday, February 19 an eLearning Day for the entire district. We feel very fortunate to be one of the first districts in the area to receive this vaccine and want to make sure to continue to be as safe and proactive as possible to protect our students, staff, and community.

At Westgate, this means that on February 19 our students will follow our regular Friday schedule with similar synchronous and asynchronous time allotments as on typical remote-learning Mondays.
