π Remarkable Accomplishments in Space Science
Students will read a text that describes the final events before the Apollo 11 launch. Students will engage with the text using the annotating text protocol. Students will continue to develop their ability to identify the way in which an authorβs use of words with specific connotations helps express point of view.
Students will read the article, Benefits of NASAβs Space Technology on Earth and evaluate multiple claims and how well each claim is supported with evidence in the text.
Students will read and watch a video on the OSIRIS-REx mission. Students will analyze and identify key details in the text.

π€ Be sure to get good rest and a good breakfast!
βπ½ Many students like to use whiteboard markers for their scratch work, but we are running low. (They go through a lot of ink here at school!) We could use some extra for the classroom, or just one for your student to make sure we have enough to cover! THANK YOU!
βοΈ Some students are low on pencils too!
Science
β‘οΈ Students completed their lessons last week with TIDES, ECLIPSES, and SOLSTICE. Students made models in their notebooks of each of these subjects!
π Topics Covered This Week:
- Finish the Earth/Sun/ Moon System this week.
- Test on Tuesday
- Begin talking about The Sun/Stars
π― The test will take place TUESDAY!
- Students will be given MONDAY in class to practice!
- Retakes for this test will take place NEXT week.
- Students will have to draw and label the moon phases.
- Click the links below for study materials.
β οΈβ οΈβ οΈ If your student is missing the "FOR ALL MANKIND" Worksheet, I have a few papers with NO names. If they were absent or did NOT turn it in, they are welcome to complete it for full credit. The video and the worksheet is on Google Classroom. Extra worksheets are also available in the 6th grade science classroom.
π» As always, if you have any questions, please email me! I am here to help in whatever way I can!

Social Studies
π¦ π This week, students will begin a new unit focused on the United States and Canada. For the remainder of the school year, students will apply concepts from throughout the year (Types of Governments, Economies, Culture and Society, Land Use, Environmental Impact, Themes of Geography, etc.) to explore and investigate various regions around the world, beginning with our own country and its neighbor to the north!
π― Scores for the Themes of Geography quiz will post to PowerSchool shortly. On Monday, students will review their quizzes and reflect on their performance. All students will be offered the opportunity to retake the written portion of the quiz (worth 50% of the total assessment score). All retakes should be completed by the end of the week.
