Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset
A fixed mindset never likes to learn, while a growth mindset learns from mistakes.
A fixed mindset misses the old days, while a growth mindset lives in the present.
A fixed mindset is afraid of investing, while a growth mindset helps others succeed.
A fixed mindset complains constantly, while a growth mindset doesn't complain.
A fixed mindset is fearful of missing out, while a growth mindset is constantly learning.
A fixed mindset is fearful of change, while a growth mindset takes action.
Which mindset are you?
Welcome back to KSB and Howser dorm on the beautiful and continuing to improve ( see our new remodeled and repaved bus circle in the front of the school building) campus. It has been a great summer with the successful completion of summer school and work program. Many thanks to all the folks that worked to make that another successful event. The dorm staff was very busy over the month of July preparing, cleaning, remodeling and moving around things, to make get things ready for our students on August 11th. It was another successful opening day as campus opened up to get ready for the 2024-25 school year. We were fed a good meal by our Louisville east Lions Club and all the fantastic members in that organization we are very grateful for their continued support of KSB, and Howser dorm students and staff. Our first few days back were filled with introductions and update on how everyone's summer break went. We also shared lots of stories about places that everyone had traveled over the summer and if everyone was excited to be back for another school year? We had mixed reactions about the last question. Our time in first two weeks revolved around water games to play to stay cool in the hot weather and then into the week with a trip out to watch the Bats play baseball on a beautiful fall like evening in the middle of August to enjoy a game at Slugger Field as they hosted the Gwinnett Stripers the minor league affiliate with the Atlanta Braves of the MLB. Sadly, the bats went down in defeat by a score of 3-1 on a beautiful evening out at the park for the dorm students to enjoy the game. We were extra thrilled to hear KSB announced over loudspeaker and a video shot of the group on the scoreboard for the recognition of guest at the game. A Great BIG Shout OUT to Taylor Reytinger who is Account Executive with the Bats and has been taking care of us here at KSB for the last 2 years and getting us in great spots at the park for all our students and staff to watch the game and enjoy all the great things about Slugger Field.
The Howser dorm students have also enjoyed the opportunity to get involved with Scouts, and renewing Scout Troop 10 here at KSB. We are thankful for Mr. Ottis Florence, and Mr. Coffey for laying the groundwork in getting the KSB/Howser Dorm troop back in action. Mr. Florence will be working with Mr. Rhodes our Recreation Director to begin a year of scouts this year on a bi-weekly basis. Along with a trip to Chic-Fil-A on Thursday night with our elementary students and various activities and events with MS/HS students in the recreation gym. It has been an exciting and adventurous first 2 weeks of school here at the Howser dorm and we are glad to be off and running for another successful year here on the campus at KSB. We are really excited to have a new staff member at Howser Dorm and will be looking forward to introducing our new staff members in future columns. We will also begin notification and staff appreciation pieces in future articles. Please see our recreation schedule for the month of August as our recreation director will have the monthly recreation schedule posted for the current month in future columns.
Until Next Time.
The KSB Food Service Department is excited to begin a new school year.
The KSB Food Service Department provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to students daily. We are enrolled in the Community Eligibility Provision, allowing all students to receive these meals at no charge. We participate in the School Breakfast Program, the National School Lunch Program and Child & Adult Care Food Program. Our kitchen staff follow a HACCP compliant program, and our facilities are inspected by the local Health Department twice a year. All food service personnel receive annual food safety training. Food safety and sanitation are taken very seriously and are top priorities in our kitchens and cafeterias. Our lunchrooms serve complete hot & cold meals that meet or exceed the requirements specified by state and federal regulations. We utilize a cycle breakfast & lunch menu plan which allows us to provide a larger variety of student favorites, while meeting the nutritional requirements set forth by the food programs we participate in. Students whose dietary needs qualify them for adaptation under law will be provided accommodations in keeping with regulations. No one shall be permitted to charge for a la carte items. (“Ala carte” refers to any item purchased separately from the meal) If your child would like to purchase ala carte items, they may use cash at the time of purchase, or you may send money (check) to be deposited into their food account and utilized as they choose.
