Heights Highlights
November 2024
Dear Families,
As we begin November, there is a lot to be thankful for in and around EHMS. Our amazing students and staff have been hard at work with both academics and extra-curricular activities. We encourage you and your Pioneer to get involved wherever you can. Make sure to put our important dates on your calendar so that you can be part of all! As always, reach out to our main office if you have any questions!

Our PBIS expectations are to Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Ready to Learn. Our expectations are posted throughout the building and in each classroom. Teachers and staff will promote these positive expectations throughout the school day.
Students will earn Petey Bucks daily for a chance to earn prizes. Students will also have the opportunity to get a positive phone calls weekly, quarterly rewards, and consistent celebrations of their success.
We invite you to join us in supporting this work together by discussing our PBIS program at home with your child. Students love to celebrate their hard work and dedication with the adults in their life. We appreciate your positive support of student learning at school and at home.
Halloween Dance
Friday, 11/1 is our Halloween Dance from 6-8pm. Tickets are $5 and have been on sale during WIN all week. Students must have their emergency card updated and a signed expectations agreement to buy a ticket. Tomorrow morning is the last opportunity to buy tickets. If students wear a costume, please adhere to the following guidelines: no masks, no look-alike weapons, no face paint, and skin must be covered according to ECS Code of Conduct. Students need to be picked up promptly at 8 pm. If you have any questions, please reach out to our main office.
Cell Phones and Attire
As we begin the new year, we ask that you please review the ECS Code of Conduct with your Pioneer. It outlines the expectations for all ECS students while at Heights. It's been linked below for your convenience. As always, if you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to our main office.
We often get questions about attire and cell-phones. Hoodies, and similar tops or jackets with hoods, are "fan favorites" when it comes to school attire. We like them, too, but not when they are worn up and over the head during the school day.
The district's Student Code of Conduct provides direction on headgear, stating that it may not be worn over a person's head or scalp (excluding headgear that's worn for religious or medical reasons.) Hoods can make it difficult to identify an individual in an emergency, and they can also be a distraction in class. Please remind students that hoods may not be worn up during the school day.
The Student Code of Conduct also offers guidance on attire. Clothing must be school appropriate and may not present a health or safety hazard or disrupt the educational environment. Pants and tops must fit properly and be in good repair; crop tops are not permitted.
Additionally, footwear must be school appropriate--slippers and slipper socks are not permitted. Blankets also may not be worn in school.
Students may bring their cell phones to school but they must be turned off and put away during the day unless they are used as a part of a teacher-directed lesson in class. Same rules apply to Bluetooth headphones--they may not be worn during the school day.
If you need to reach your student during the school day, please contact the main office and our staff will convey a message or assist you in reaching your student.
