Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
This week the Maryland Report Card was released for all the public schools in Maryland. The report card is released annually by the Maryland State Department of Education. It measures some of the following areas: students achievement on state testing (MCAP), their growth over time on MCAP, school culture/climate results from students and staff, and English Language proficiency from our Emergent Multilingual Learners. I am proud to announce that Wims received 5 stars (out of 5 stars) and performed at the 95th percentile Only 7% of all schools in Maryland received 5 stars, and only 15 MCPS schools received this rating. Wims had the ninth highest score in MCPS and was the only school in the top ten not located in the downcounty location of Montgomery County:) Here is a link to the report card.
I am so proud of all the students, staff, and community. We look forward to continuing to do great things at Wims!

Instrumental Music Concert- Tomorrow
Attention all fifth grade instrumental music parents! Please refer to the SYNERGY message Mr. Spitzberg sent regarding our Winter Concert this Monday, December 9. This event is only for fifth grade instrumentalists and their families. For the rest of our Wilson Wims community, please mark your calendars and consider joining us for the Spring Music Concert on Monday May 5, 2025.
Lunch Container Request
For those families who have their child bring lunch in containers, please avoid using glass containers, if possible. We have had a few containers break recently and want to ensure the safety of the students. Thank you for your consideration.

From the PTA Board
Greetings, Wildcats,
Thank you to all who supported the fall Book Fair. Our fair sales totaled around $12,000, which earned our school almost $3,000! It was wonderful to see our Wildcats on Wednesday for Mr. Burns & Friends Hot Chocolate Read-Along - we hope the stories were enjoyed. Please join me in thanking Danni Ibarra and Kim Borgel for tirelessly working through the Book Fair and elevating it yet once more with themed decor and the read-along. They did an incredible job and the amount of work that they put into the Book Fair is monumental.
Don’t forget our December PTA Meeting this Tuesday 12/10 at 6:30 in the Media Center. Come listen, as Mr. Prin explains everything you ever wanted to know about testing but were afraid to ask. Historically this is a very popular topic, so you don’t want to miss this one! Free childcare is available in the APR through Global (potty-trained children only). While we highly encourage in-person attendance, we will also run the meeting on Zoom for those who need to join us from home. Please see below for the link.
We are almost at the end of the year but need help with just two more special events! We still need about 40 more dozen cookies to spread some holiday cheer to our Wims staff – if you are doing some holiday baking, please consider signing up to donate a dozen or two. We also still need many volunteers for Wimsy’s Holiday Shoppe. This is a super sweet event, so please lend us a hand - we can’t do it without you!
Have a Wonderful Wildcat Week!

WE NEED YOUR PHOTOS!
Our Yearbook Committee needs your help! Please share your photos from our events - Movie Night, Fun Run, PRIDE Assemblies, and more. We would also love your first day of school photos, photos of our patrols, and getting to & from school each day. Our Lifetouch upload link is now live. Simply go to this link to upload and you just might see your photos featured in the yearbook! Please remember to TAG when uploading photos, as this will make it easier for our committee to sort. If you are not sure which tag to use, just label the picture with the student’s grade level/ teacher. Thank you in advance for contributing to our Wims yearbook!
MULTICULTURAL NIGHT: FRIDAY, JAN.24
Multicultural Night is a special evening where we celebrate our diverse Wildcat Community through cultural enlightenment including diverse foods, art, artifacts, and a fabulous fashion show! If you would like to showcase your family’s culture, please complete this interest from no later than January 10. Please note that families who wish to feature the same country may be grouped together. If you have any questions, please contact Natalia Winffel.
