ROCK'in Weekly Update
Message from Split Rock Elementary School Principal
The weather has certainly shifted, but our work habits and vision remain steady! Our students have done an amazing job this week, working hard and having fun while doing it. As we approach Thanksgiving Break next week, we are finishing strong and with a sense of purpose.
As we conduct Parent-Teacher Conferences over the next few days, it is essential that all families are aware of their scheduled time and date. These conferences are a valuable opportunity to connect and strengthen the school-home partnership, ensuring our Wildcats continue to thrive. Our Family- School Relationship survey will be available to take at Split Rock as well. See more information below.
A reminder that attendance is extremely important for a child’s learning and development. While Monday and Tuesday are half days, they are still critical times for instruction and learning. Let’s make the most of the time we have together by ensuring all students are present and ready to engage.
Wishing everyone a restful weekend!
BE AWESOME!
Mr. Kimpland
Half Day Reminder
The following dates half - days for our students. Monday, November 25 & Tuesday, November 26. Please remember to send a note if your child's dismissal routine will change for those days. Thank you!
Climate Survey
Our District values your feedback! On December 2, 2024 we will be asking you to take a brief survey to tell us about your experience with the West Genesee Central School District. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses as they inform our Strategic Planning decision-making processes. The survey window will be open from December 2 - 16, 2024.

Nurse's News
Cooler and damper weather is upon us! Please make sure to send your child to school in appropriate attire: jackets, hats, gloves, boots and sneakers to change into.
Accidents and spills happen. I have very limited change of clothing left here at the nurse’s office.
Please send a change of clothing for your child to keep in their locker or class.
There has been an influx of children affected with upper respiratory infections caused by a bacterial infection requiring antibiotics. It is certainly tough to distinguish viral vs. bacterial without testing, so if your child does develop a fever and upper or lower respiratory symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, congestion), consult with your family Doctor if further treatment is needed. Additional info can be found by clicking here.
As a reminder, students should not be in school if they have:
- Fever at or above 100 degrees
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
In general, your child should be without fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours with no use of medication, before they return to school.
Attendance/Absence: ParentSquare will send a notification mid morning if your child is absent that you will be able to reply with a reason, you must wait for that notification to come through. If you do wish to let us know prior, feel free to send me a message on ParentSquare. Click here for additional info regarding reporting attendance.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me anytime with any concerns.

Cold Weather/ Outerwear
The cooler weather is upon us! Please keep in mind that our students will continue to go outside for recess daily. If the temperature is 20 degrees Fahrenheit or above, recess can take place outside. If the temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (this includes factoring in the WINDCHILL), recess will be indoors. Students should always have appropriate clothing for the weather each day: Coat, boots, snow pants, hat, and gloves.
**Also, please remember to LABEL your child's cold-weather clothing. You will be so glad you did!
