February 2025
Hello LAW Families,
Though February may be short, it’s packed with exciting opportunities and meaningful initiatives for our students! See below for important details.
Keeping the Kindness Going
Our Kindness Week celebrations in late January were a wonderful success, and we’re committed to keeping that spirit alive throughout the rest of the school year.
Welcoming Future Students
February also marks an important time for prospective families of incoming kindergarten and preschool students for Fall 2025. We will be hosting informational sessions to help families learn more about our programs and what to expect. If you know of anyone outside our current LAW community who may be interested, please feel free to share the details. Flyers with session dates and information are linked below.
Looking Ahead: MCAS & March
As we return from February vacation, we’ll begin preparing for MCAS testing in March. You can find the MCAS schedule below. More details regarding MCAS key information will be shared as we finalize logistics.
Honoring Black History Month
February is Black History Month, and throughout the month, our students will explore and learn about the lives and contributions of influential Black Americans.
Wishing you all a meaningful and engaging February! 💙
Stay warm,
Beth Lewis, Principal

100s Day is Soon - Feb. 6th
(Weather Permitting)
100s Day is Feb. 6th (If no snow days prior to this date)
Every year we celebrate the 100th day of school. We will be celebrating 100s Day on Feb. 6th this year unless we have an unexpected day off from school between now and then!
During 100s Day students engage in activities that involve the number one hundred. Last year some classes had students work on a home project where they used one hundred items to present a picture - 100 buttons to make a smiley face for instance. The 100s day is a lot of fun and students learn the value of 100! Your child's teacher will provide more information as we approach this special day.

Dr. Donaher's PBIS Update
PBIS
January was an exciting month at LAW as our students continued to model our LAW PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Expectations and embody our core school values. Their commitment to respectful, responsible, and safe behavior has been evident throughout the school day, from the classroom to the cafeteria, playground, hallways, and bus rides.
Our students have been actively engaged in practicing our LAW core values, which emphasize respect, responsibility, and kindness in all areas of our school environment. To encourage and recognize positive behaviors, students have been earning Green Paws for our School Store and Core Value tickets for demonstrating our school's core values consistently. These incentives not only reinforce positive behaviors but also celebrate the efforts of our students in making our school a welcoming and supportive community.
Please remember that it is crucial that students adhere to our school's core values daily, contributing to a positive and respectful learning environment for all. As we move into February we encourage you to support these efforts by having conversations at home with your student(s) about the importance of positive behavior in various areas of school life. Discussing how they can continue to be role models in the classroom, walk safely and respectfully in the hallways, show kindness and cooperation in the cafeteria and on the playground, and follow expectations while riding the bus will reinforce the values we are teaching here at LAW.
Together, we can continue to foster a school environment where all students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn! Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing these values at home, and we look forward to a great February ahead! Additionally, we hope that your families have a safe, healthy, relaxing, and warm February School Vacation this month (Monday, February 17th - Friday, February 21st).
Be You & Be Well,
Dr. Donaher
