HV Update 10-25-2024
A message from your principal, Mrs. Stager
We had such a fun assembly with the Harlem Wizards this week! Tickets are selling fast, so be sure to get yours today. See the HSA section for more information.
Next Thursday is the main event! The Halloween parade will begin at 2:15 P.M. and you may begin to arrive at 2:00 P.M. Please review the letter included in the newsletter that contains all relevant information. The weather is supposed to be nice, so I recommend you walk to school if you can, since parking will be at a premium. Please ensure all costumes are school appropriate.
Next week will also be recognizing Red Ribbon Week and there will be a spirit week and Friday, November 1st is Pajama Day, as we always do the day after Halloween.
Have a great weekend and we'll see you back at HV on Monday!
Best,
Allison

Halloween Costume Guidance
We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween with the students on Thursday, October 31st! Class parents and teachers are working to set up classroom celebrations and our parade will be held at 2:15 P.M., weather permitting. Please review the attached letter below the bullet points for more information. It is expected that all costumes will be appropriate for the school setting. Costume guidance is as follows:
Costumes should be worn to school and comfortable enough to participate in all learning activities, including recess and physical education. Students should be able to use the bathroom independently in their costumes. No gory or violent subjects (blood and/or bodily injury depictions), bodily fluids or excrement, weapons (swords, knives, guns, rifles, etc.), and no inappropriate sayings, symbols, or offensive representations. Additionally, no inflatable costumes for safety reasons.
All masks, hair, and make-up should be school appropriate in accordance with the guidelines above and should not conceal a student’s identity or obscure vision. Masks following the above guidelines will only be worn during the parade. All hair and make-up should be done at home prior to coming to school.
Lunch Aides
We are in need of lunch aides at HV! If you have a couple hours to spare during the week, we could really use the help! If you are interested, please contact the main office for more information.
Nominate Educators of the Year!
Each year The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) strives to recognize educators who have gone above and beyond in their service to New Jersey’s students. The Pequannock Township School District participates in the Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) program to honor the hardworking teachers and educational services professionals for their dedication to students and the profession. Now is the time of year where you get to recognize a teacher or educational service provider who has demonstrated excellence inside and outside of the classroom. When nominating an educator, please provide a brief description of the following:
- In what ways does the teacher or educational support professional demonstrate their exceptional skill or dedication to their students?
- How does the teacher or educational support professional inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn?
- How does the teacher or educational support professional demonstrate leadership and innovation in and outside the classroom?
- In what ways does the educator have the respect and admiration of students, parents, administrators and colleagues?
- Does the educator play an active role in the community as well as in the school? If so, how?
You can nominate teachers as well as educational support providers - interventionists, Child Study Team members, therapists, classroom aides...anyone who makes an educational impact on your child in the school setting.
Please download, complete and return the form to Mrs. Stager by below by November15th. If easier, you can send a brief narrative via email in lieu of completing the form.
