Meadows Message from Mrs. Krz
November 15, 2024
Dear Meadows Community,
This week before Thanksgiving is an exciting one for many reasons: the excitement of the anticipation of family visiting, travel plans, and our first ever International Friendsgiving Day. This Wednesday, we will be sampling foods from around the world, provided by parents and staff. We are also encouraging all students, staff, and parents to dress in the clothes of the culture they embrace. This will take place in the cafeteria during lunch time. However, this will not be an event to remember without your participation. Please sign up to bring food and/or sign up to volunteer to help distribute the food to our students. This event is not taking the place of lunch, but will certainly enhance the dining experience.
To bring food or volunteer CLICK HERE. (I had to abandon Sign Up Genius since it was giving me trouble.)
This is also the last week of week continues of MBEF Expo. We encourage parents to come on campus to get a glimpse of what we offer our students in the specials that your contributions to MBEF provide. Parents should have received an invitation from their child's teacher that shares the class schedules for library, MakerSpace, science, lab, and music. Come by and visit a class!

International Friendsgiving Day at Meadows
This is the winning poster that was created in a friendly competition we had for publicizing this event. Great job, Aria, Meli, Eleanor, and Camila! All posters are hung around the school now. Thank you, Student Council and No Place for Hate members!
Join us in celebrating our different cultures by participating in a tasting of foods from around the world on Wednesday, November 20 during lunch. Students may still bring their own lunch or order lunch, but we will also be offering parent-provided food samples. You may participate in two ways: 1) provide food samples and 2) volunteer to serve the food in the cafeteria.
If you are interested in bringing food to share or to volunteer to serve food, click here. Be prepared to bring enough sample servings to serve at least 30 students. Food should be brought in a disposable container. Room temperature food can be brought to the cafeteria in the morning during drop off. Hot food can be delivered between 11 am to 12 pm. Please know that our youngest students start eating at 11:30 am. Food should be cut into sample sizes and should be easy to serve. Think about putting samples into cupcake wrappers or any other easy way to serve. Please include an index card folded in 1/2 (like a tent) and label with 1) The name of the food, 2) The country of food's origin, 3) Your child(ren)'s name(s), and 4) MOST IMPORTANT - a list of ingredients. NO NUTS, please! We can't wait for this special day to try food from around the world! We are also encouraging students to dress in their family's culture on this day. Join us!
Save the Date!!!
E-bike Training for Students in Grade 4 and 5
Starting on December 9, if your child in grades 4 or 5 rides an e-bike to school, it must have the approved MBUSD-certified sticker displayed on their e-bike to be permitted to park on school grounds.
To receive this sticker, students must complete a District-approved e-bike certification course through E-Bike Sense or PedalAce. Without this certification, students will not be allowed to bring or park their e-bikes on campus, and any e-bike found without a sticker will be held for parent pick-up. Private course options remain available with E-Bike Sense (in-person) and PedalAce (online), and free District-sponsored classes will again be offered in January.
Here is the link to register privately for the in-person E-Bike Sense course. Please use the discount code MBUSD25 to receive a 25% discount available to MBUSD families.
Here is the link to register for the online PedalAce course. This course is offered at a 50% discount.
District-sponsored classes are still open for these grades from November 2 through December 9. If your student has already completed or will complete a private class through PedalAce and E-Bike Sense, please submit their certificate of completion to the front office as soon as possible. Once verified, a sticker will be issued to immediately be placed on the e-bike. Certificates will be cross-referenced with lists provided to the school by PedalAce and E-Bike Sense.
This newly updated Parent Handbook has everything you'll need to have the best year ever! It includes calendars, information, resources, policies, and more. Click here to check it out!
