Lest We Forget November 6th, 2024
Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Fall break is here. This past week was a short one but there was still plenty going on. Snow joined us for the first time this school year, and the students have had a wonderful time playing in it and building snowmen. Reminder that if you have not already done so make sure your student has a change of cloths at school. Playing in the snow is lots of fun but the occasional student gets a little wet. It is also important that if your student does not have a dedicated pair of inside shoes they do so now. While all efforts are made to keep the wet in the boot rooms, the occasional pair of wet socks are bound to happen, also in case of an evacuation or dill there will not be time to stop and put on foot ware.
On Wednesday, we had our school Remembrance Day Ceremony, honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our county. We are extremely grateful to the parents, and community members that joined us. Our students put together some artwork, songs and the ceremony was capped by a tableau presentation from Mrs. Gunderman's 5/6 class. We also had an address from Legion member Tom Myrholm.
Fall break runs from the November 7th - 11th with classes resuming on the 12. The 12th will also have our next School Council Meeting at 3:45. On the 13th at 11:35 we have a Picnic lunch in the gym (parents are invited). Also on the 13th at 7pm we will be hosting a participation session of the GYPSD zoom meeting regarding the search for a new Superintendent, see below.
Upon returning students may may make comments about a change in some Educational Assistant schedules. These changes have been made to better address the needs of all Wildwood School students in their quest to be successful in academics and in life. It is also for this reason that we have posted to hire a new part time Educational Assistant, the posting closes at noon on November 12th. The posting can be viewed here.
If you have any questions or concerns you can always reach out to the school through the office or email me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca.
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles

New Superintendent Search - Board Invitation to School Council Members/Parent Advisory Committees:
The Board of Trustees for GYPSD is conducting a search for a new superintendent. They have secured an external consultant, Mr. Brian Callaghan, through the Public School Boards' Association of Alberta.
On November 13th, at 7 pm, Mr. Callaghan will meet with the Division's School Council/Parent Advisory Committee stakeholder groups to gather input on a preferred candidate profile. Once the candidate profile is established, it will be used to guide the recruitment and hiring process for the future superintendent.
The Board will be using GYPSD's ZOOM Platform to ensure all of the Division's School Council/parent groups can participate in this meeting.
In consultation with School Council we have tentatively booked a group participation at Wildwood School in room 130. We will gauge interest and move forward accordingly.
