This Wednesday, October 16th is Unity Day. Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. Unity Day’s goal is to bring together youth, parents, educators, and communities to emphasize the message that bullying is not acceptable. All students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in the community. I invite you all to wear orange on Wednesday to show your support for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
AVID Future Ready
Our year II Education Pathway Capstone students are now tutoring at our local elementary and middle schools. During first period our students visit Cypress Elementary or Las Palmas Middle School. This system allows our students to receive hands-on- teaching experience and allows them to figure out which grade level is the best fit for them. It is such a great experience for all involved! Our CVUSD children love having the high school students as role models on their campus and our CVUSD teachers love seeing their former students all grown up and now preparing for a future teaching profession.
Counseling Corner
Fall is in full swing, and we know it's a busy time for seniors preparing for college applications. We're here to support you every step of the way! As a reminder, the CSU (California State University) and UC (University of California) application windows are officially open! Counselors will be hosting college application workshops to assist seniors with completing their CSU, UC, private, and out-of state college applications. Whether they need help navigating the application portals or reviewing their personal insight questions, we’ve got them covered. Students who actively participate in any of the college application workshops may be eligible to receive a free application voucher to cover the cost of 1 $70 CSU application fee.
Seniors are welcome to attend any or all of the following workshops:
October 17:
Lunch, 6th period, 7th period, and after school until 4:15 PM in Room D-4.
October 29:
Lunch, 6th period, 7th period, and after school until 4:15 PM in Room D-4.
November 5:
Late Start Day, from 9:00-9:45 AM in the Library.
We recommend seniors take advantage of these sessions to work on their applications in a supportive environment with guidance from counselors.
Lastly, UC Irvine will be hosting a special college presentation on October 15th during lunch for Northview students. This is a great opportunity to learn about admissions, programs, and campus life directly from UC Irvine representatives. Don’t miss out! To attend, please sign up with Mrs. Worley in the library.
