The Color Cycle(Color Wheel Project 1)
AMIN ROBINSON-Artist Statement
I created my work because I felt like a triangle was the easiest way to convey colors in a broad spectrum. I felt my overall vision didn’t come out the way I felt but I did mix the colors twice. I would expect harsh criticism and good advice of design choices from my audiences and viewers. My current ART work relates to my old one very differently because I was very creative back then and actually into art. My work fits within the current contemporary art very well because people seems to be basing the world on shapes and colors now and days using more shapes to create pieces.
My work fits in with the history of art practice because obviously, people have an imagination. My work fits within a series of abstract projects I have done before because it was all in an abstract way of conveying colors and shapes. My inspirations were my idea of conveying a space prism of UV color spectrum. I am not really influenced by any artist but I do think that all artists have gifts that they must keep.
Think With Flying Colors.
Quarter 2 Project: Sculpture; "The Fire Golem"
Hi I am Amin Robinson and I am the creator of the Fire Golem as seen in the picture below. As you can see it is not my best work, nor is it my first idea. My original ideas were going to be an abstract clock, then it was going to be a heart and then my last idea became this creature. The reason of its creature was because I wanted to show people what exactly I imagine in my head and how every random thought I have becomes a reality on paper.
My vision for the work is a little messy but since it is the first time that I ever made a sentient clay monster being at all I am just glad that I even did it in the first place. My work communicates "Scary. Fiery. Coolness. What the actual clay?" It communicates lots of mystery and questions that people ask me like "Why did you make this?" and I just reply "Because my mind told me so!" What I think I achieved through the creature of this art piece is an actual 3D visual of one my imaginations.
My current work relates to my previous work because we learned how to use proper colors and I definitely knew what colors to mix to give it the fiery orange-red-yellow neon look. I started with a ball of clay in which I then made another ball like the snowman effect and the I sculpted a chainsaw two arms one with a chainsaw and the other with a regular hand(It isn't actually there anymore as it fell off) and two big legs that I just stuck under the big ball of clay that is his torso. My actual art piece doesn't really reflect the world at all but I guess it could be an allusion to how Adam and Eve were created like from the earth and possibly out of clay.
My work definitely influences others to want to get up and create something just because I did it and I completely have no skill in using clay. One technique that could be important is to stay on task and never be afraid to add on any ideas you feel like would make your art "pop." I learned how to mold in the cracks and crannies to make the piece look like one piece and not pieces.
Overall this project was very good and I loved doing it it was a lot of fun and I really consider painting and sculpting more often.
Q3 Project: The Sprig of Rue.
My work communicates confusion and probably the eyes beyond perception. I think I will achieve the design and trying to express what I mean by the use of colors and certain materials that will resemble these objects. My current work relates to my previous work is that it was very messy but I ended up getting the job done also there is always some form of mysticism within my work.
My work fits in with the art of construction in which we put different things together and make something new. My work reflect the world I live in because this art piece is made of different material meaning that not everyone is similar also the piece is kind of beyond recognition which is kind of how life is, there’s no recognition within life.
I am not sure how my work can influence, I guess it will help people understand the mindset of others and have them curious. A certain technique would be pace yourself follow your checkpoints and keep yourself posted on what you are supposed to do. I feel like it is very important that every single color has a purpose and looks right. Always pay attention to what colors you are using and using it as a tool.
Contemporary Art Piece
On this website, the first art piece I see is called "muted expression" by Tsherin Sherpa. My art piece fits in this range because it is a confusing concept but only the artist really knows what the real meaning is. I also feel like this art piece to me expresses culture. For some very odd reason, it reminds me of Hinduism because of the many different colored arms and the symbols that the hands are doing. My art piece can relate because the art piece I did follows Roman culture because the Sprig of Rue is an Italian cultural reference.
The Project here was a very mind struck project. At first, I didn't have any idea about what I was doing. So this wasn't my first idea.
