UELF WEEKLY
Oct. 31 - Nov. 4, 2022
Celebrating Being a Maker!
UELF will have the All School Maker/Halloween/Fall Celebrations Parade at 1pm. Students may wear the base of their costume to school, then at lunch they can add on their capes, put on their headgear and add on that splash of face paint for the 1pm parade. Class celebrations will be in the afternoon. This is a school appropriate celebration. The following costume items and subjects are not okay for school, use these costumes for the night fun:
- face mask - We need to see student faces.
- Blood, gore
- Weapons of any kind
IF your family does not celebrate Halloween, the morning part of the day will be focused on the classroom participating in learning that is connected to grade level standards. Teachers will incorporate Fall Holidays using maker mindset thinking for October and November.
El Dia de los Muertos
On November 1st - 3rd please come and observe the El Dia de Los Muertos table that will be on display near the Multiuse Room facing the playgraound. If you would like to participate in this cultural experience please bring photos, trinkets, small food items or mementos to place on the display to honor those that have passed. Please do not bring items that are valuable and cannot be replaced (make photocopies of pictures, etc...). Here is a link with a short video on the Latin American celebration: https://museumsc.org/2022-dia-de-los-muertos-day-of-the-dead/. The team will begin setting up the table after school on Oct. 31.

Safe Routes To School
Thank you Safe Routes to School-Sonoma for visiting with the UELF PTA Membership. It's great to hear all of the ways this program supports students learning how to navigate their environment through walking, biking, scootering and skateboarding. There's still time to do the October Challenge:

Looking for a place to volunteer?
Classrooms teachers are looking for parents to be fingerprinted and registered for field trips, special events, and classroom jobs. Get yourself set up so you're ready to be there when your student needs you.
ALL volunteers must complete the CRPUSD Volunteer Registration Process, which includes fingerprinting. Please complete the application form and get yourself fingerprinted. Words From Principal Lunde
Bathroom Privileges
Using the bathroom during class time is something we seek for all students to have access to and it's a responsibility of the student to be able to learn how to do this responsibly. Presently I am noticing a pattern of students using the bathroom to take breaks which changes the intent of using the bathroom. The acoustics in the bathroom is also "fun". The bathroom is a place to go in, use the bathroom, wash your hands and leave. It is a place to show privacy and use the personal space tool. Please discuss this with your child. It is not a place to scream, play with water, turn lights on/off, look under bathroom stalls...This is happening in the bathrooms in grades 1st-5th. Presently I am asking teachers to keep a log of how and when students use the bathroom so that I can pinpoint when this is occurring. Please talk with me if you would like to discuss.
Keep Me In The Loop!
Please reach out to me if you have a bright idea, a concern (no matter how small or big) or just want to chat. I am here for you!
