June 2025
Good Morning,
We hope this newsletter finds you well! As we close out another school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable growth, resilience, and accomplishments that defined our community at Lamberts Mill Academy this year. This was a year where student voice led the way, creativity flourished, and our shared commitment to therapeutic interventions and environment remained at the heart of everything we did.
Our Student Council worked tirelessly to amplify student perspectives and organize meaningful events. From the school dances, to the fundraisers, they created opportunities for peers to connect, express themselves, and strengthen school spirit. Their leadership has been both inspiring and transformative. I personally want to thank Jordyn M. our school elected VP for personally taking on leadership roles as student council continues to evolve at LMA.
We were proud to cheer on several students who were honored at the Teen Arts Festival this year for their exceptional work in visual art, performance, and creative writing. Their talent and courage in sharing their stories through art reminds us of the power of self-expression in healing and learning. Three of our students we're selected to represent LMA and Union county at the state level.
This year saw the continued success of our therapeutic initiatives, including daily pull out group therapy, expanded counseling supports, and community building restorative circles. These efforts have helped build a culture of emotional safety, where every student is seen, heard, and supported.
Academic growth took on many forms, especially through our field trip experiences. Whether exploring local history, arts and theatre, participating in Work Based Learning, or engaging in hands-on career exploration trips, our students deepened their curiosity and built confidence in new environments. Students have also been travelling to Crossroads school to interact with students, along with peer mentoring at Westlake school, demonstrating improved social skills, and leadership qualities.
To our students—thank you for showing up for yourselves and one another. Your dedication and progress, academically and emotionally, have been nothing short of extraordinary. To our families—thank you for your trust and partnership. And to our staff—your unwavering commitment to every student’s success is what makes this place so special.
As we head into summer, I hope each of you finds time to rest, recharge, and reflect on the year’s achievements. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall, ready to begin another chapter—grounded in hope, guided by compassion, and fueled by possibility.
Warmly,
Reed, Danielle & John

Classroom Spotlights
Updates from Mrs. Miller's Classroom
Middle School Social Studies students have been learning about the creation of the Constitution and the rights the founding fathers believed Americans should have. Students have analyzed Constitutional rights, the impact they have on today’s society, and how to identify when a right has been violated.
World History students completed the unit on the Cold War Era, focusing on the global impact of the Korean War, Vietnam War, and international relationships between the USA and USSR. Students have also studied World Religions, focusing on how different religions have spread throughout the world and the belief systems of each religion. Students researched one religion and created World Religions Cubes describing the religion.
US I History students continued learning about the Civil War and the political, economic, and social impacts. Students analyzed various primary sources, including speeches by President Lincoln, a letter from a Civil War soldier, and Act of Congress, and reflected on how those sources shaped our understanding of the Civil War. Students learned about the acts of John Brown and created either wanted posters or awards depending on if the students thought Brown was a villain or a hero.
US II History students concluded the unit on the Cold War Era, focusing on the home front issues of McCarthyism and the Watergate Scandal, along with the Space and Arms Races. Students completed several station activities focusing on various events of the Cold War. Students analyzed primary source documents and responded to cause and effect questions.
Economics students continue to learn financial literacy skills that will help them after they graduate. May focused on budgeting, the Stock Market, and taxes. Students created budgets based on potential future careers, analyzed different stock options, and practiced filing taxes through IRS simulations.
Ms. Schneider's Music Class Updates
This June, students focused on television and film scores, dedicating much time to “leitmotifs”, which are repeated musical, or rhythmic, ideas used with a particular character or location. To gain understanding of this musical element, students focused on “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter. They then applied this knowledge to movies viewed in class; identifying the leitmotif or variations on it.
Post Grad Wraps Up the Year
The work based learning students are wrapping up a very successful year at each of our work sites. Students gained valuable hands-on experience while working within the community! A very heartfelt thank you to Walgreens Pharmacy, Hilton Hotel, Machio’s and Chili’s for allowing our students the opportunity to expand upon their employability skills while increasing their independence in real work environments. As a token of our appreciation, our students are working on “Thank you” gifts that will be distributed to each work site at the end of the school year! Job well done!
