A Note from Dr. Collier
Hello Dino Families!
As the year is starting to come to a close there are a couple of updates that we want to share with our community.
Every year brings changes in staffing. This year we are sending several Dino staff off onto a new adventure. We would like to take the time to thank all of our staff for their hard work in year 1 and helping us get off to a great start. I couldn’t be prouder of this team. Goodbyes can be hard, but they should also be celebrated. We are sending some dinos back to school to pursue their next degree (Mr. Woodard and Ms. Tech), a dino to California (Mr. Rossi) one dino into retirement (Ms. Norris Buck), and even dinos to other 27J schoosl (Ms. Gusa). We will miss all the dino staff leaving to a new adventure (Ms. Suto, Ms Beggs) - we hope for the best and are thankful for our time together as a team.
We are welcoming:
Chassity Ross to 2nd grade from Adams 12
Jessie Witherow to 3rd grade from 27J
Brittany Kneebone to 4th grade from Adams 14
Jeni Voss to GT/Electives from 27J
Dan Yegert to 7th/8th ELA from 27J
Bree Thomas to 8th grade math from 27J (new position)
Rachel Deppe to 7th/8th Social Studies from Foundations Academy
*Angel Tari is moving to electives and Student Success Coach (new position)
Jordan McLaughlin to 8th grade Science from 27J (new position)
Maya Reno to Music/Band from CCSD
Miranda Philippi to Office Manager (new position)
*Laura Fine is moving to full time registrar.
HUGE thank you to our brick buyers and donors -
We are sending 15 Discovery staff to California for PBL World. This is a huge conference that allows educators to learn and grow together on the PBL components to help us continue to grow in our proactiveness!
We felt all the LOVE - thank you!
THANK YOU to our PTA and all the families that helped celebrate our staff during Appreciation week!
Financial updates:
We are so excited that we have funds to carry over for next year’s first quarter recess equipment! We have been replenishing as needed with thanks to the Penny Wars in November! It has been such a huge help. Students really do need new equipment to keep them entertained.
Medication Pickup
All medications will need to be picked up in the clinic by 5/23 at 4pm. Any medications left will be disposed of. For any questions, please reach out to Ms. Juanita at jruiz@sd27j.net.

Safety Request: Checking Students Out Early
We kindly ask that if you need to pick up your student(s) from school early, please arrive before 3:00 PM. After 3:00 PM, our staff is focused on ensuring a safe and organized dismissal process. Your cooperation in adhering to this request would greatly support our efforts in maintaining a secure environment for all students. The front office is often busy and not always fully staffed at this time. We are not able to guarantee calling your student down in a timely manner. Thank you for your understanding and support.
