Open House Dates
We will be hosting several days of Open House opportunities for our incoming students to access if they would like to visit us prior to the start of the school year. We were so lucky to meet and greet all of our students this Spring during their visits to Marsh Creek, and we were able to introduce them to the building and many of our staff members. This August, we will open the building so that students may stop by to tour the building, practice using a locker, and ask any questions that they may have. The dates and times that Marsh Creek will host our Open House opportunities are listed below. Please note that students will have access to their schedules through Infinite Campus beginning on Monday, August 19th.

Meet Our Admin Team

Dear Marsh Creek Families,
I am thrilled to welcome you all to our Narwhal Nation, and to introduce myself as the Principal of the Marsh Creek 6th Grade Center. With great excitement, I begin my second year as a part of this amazing institution and I am blessed to have the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated teachers, staff, parents, and most importantly, the remarkable students of this community.
My name is Matt Barr, and I have been a part of the Downingtown Area School District for 20 years. I began my career as a Special Education teacher and football coach and had the privilege to serve as an Assistant Principal at Downingtown West High School for six years. I currently live in Downingtown with my wife Jen, and our two daughters, who are currently attending school within the district.
Change is an integral part of growth, and as we embark on this new chapter together, I am committed to supporting this change for our incoming students. Through innovative teaching, collaboration, and fostering a growth mindset, we will empower our students to embrace change, adapt to new challenges, and become lifelong learners.
At Marsh Creek, we understand that the love of learning is the foundation of success. By providing a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities, tailored to individual strengths and interests, we will nurture a lifelong passion for learning within each student. I firmly believe that education is a collaborative effort between the school, families, and the wider community. Together, we will celebrate our students' achievements, encourage their aspirations, and unlock their full potential.
I am honored to serve as your Principal and to be part of the Marsh Creek 6th Grade Center Community. I am excited to work with all of you to ensure that we maintain a nurturing, innovative, and inclusive environment where students thrive academically, develop essential life skills, and cultivate their love of learning. I look forward to getting to know each of you and working collaboratively to make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
Warmest regards,
Matt
School Supply List
The following list of optional school supplies is available on our website, in the Backpack section of the web page. We will be working with our students during the first week of school to ensure that they all have what they need in order to participate in our opening week of instruction.
Chromebook Care
The most frequent damage to a Chromebook is a cracked screen. Follow these tips to avoid damage.
- Always carry a Chromebook closed. Never hold a Chromebook by its screen and always use two hands to carry the device.
- If carrying the device from classroom to classroom, hold the Chromebook close to your chest much like a hug.
- Be sure to set a Chromebook on a flat surface during use and avoid slanted, uneven surfaces which could lead to the device sliding off and dropping to the floor.
For more tips about protecting your device, and information related to getting a protective case for your device, click the following link to our technology page. Thank you for your assistance!

Clubs and Intramurals
Below is a link to the Activities page on our Marsh Creek website, which has been updated with all information that students and parents will need to engage in our extracurricular programs. It contains information related to the options available this year, as well as information related to Activity Fees, and the Activity Shuttle Bus. Students can work with our teachers to pick up information and to express interest in the activities offered this year. Intramurals will begin during the month of September for our students. Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks to come!
