Scholarship Information
Hello 2025 Seniors and Senior Guardians,
Please read the attached letter which provides information about scholarships (free money for college) and some work you can do early (September/October) in the school year to get ahead of what will be a very busy Senior year!
There are a few important items to know as you get ready to apply for college and scholarships during the fall:
A couple of things that are needed for both college and scholarship applications are letters of recommendation. Please think of three teachers, coaches, or a boss if you are employed that can write a letter for you. It is a good idea to give them several weeks notice for a letter. It is also helpful to give them a resume or profile about you to help write the letter. It is never too early to ask so please think ahead!
Here is a link to a cover sheet letter to fill out to help give to the adult you choose to help write your letter of recommendation. BMHS Letter of Recommendation Cover Sheet
Please be aware of your grade point average (this is important for both college and scholarship applications).
Please look at the ACT expectations for the college of your choice. If you feel you would like to re-do your ACT please visit actstudent.org to sign up online. You may want to consider the earliest test date next fall.
Your school email will be used to provide scholarship information to you on an ongoing basis as well as being posted in Xello. Also information will be posted on a bulletin board outside the BACH/HHES counselors offices. EMAIL WILL BE THE BEST PLACE TO FIND ALL INFORMATION REGARDING SCHOLARSHIPS. SO PLEASE check your e-mail or Xello regularly!
Some scholarships (called Merit) happen when you apply to a college based on GPA and ACT scores.
You may check your parents place of employment....MOST important when it comes to scholarships.. you should never have to pay for them.....or put in credit card information.
As a senior you will be sent local scholarships as they come available. THEY WILL COME TO YOU RIGHT AWAY IN YOUR EMAIL FROM MRS. SCHWENN (FRESHMAN COUNSELOR/SCHOLARSHIP COORDINATOR).
Here are a few search engines and scholarship programs that are available, or will be available to all Seniors. Deadlines to scholarships vary so apply right away when they open.
