A Merry December to You All!
It’s hard to believe there are less than three school weeks remaining in 2024!
Adventure Club
On November 14, fifteen or so of our families with TK and K students (who had joined our HRCS Adventure Club this fall) met me on the trail at the San Joaquin River Preserve for a nature walk mid-day. It was a fantastic time for families and I to take in nature, get our young learners engaged in observing and interpreting their environment and using their new explorer kits to identify interesting things, complete a scavenger hunt and gather or observe interesting things. We recently learned about how to use classical children's literature to engage students in learning and develop a love for reading. This includes time in nature, of course.
As many of these students in kinder cubs learned all about the five senses, we put many of them to work on the trail!
I will soon be contacting our families of grades 1 and 2 to invite you to come meet with me in January for a brief overview of our Adventure Club, and learn about a great opportunity to access and use some great materials we purchased for your use to engage and excite your young learners. Attached are two photos of our families on the trail.
Dos Rios
I am also attaching two photos to share from Dos Rios, California's newest State Park with a beautiful picnic area along the river with lunch tables and BBQs! It is free to use and open on Friday through Sunday, 7 am to 5 pm:
3559 Shiloh Road
Modesto, CA 95358

Thank you, and Enjoy!
