This Week in AVID
Philosophical Chairs enables students to practice how to formulate, defend and analyze arguments. We can begin as early as TK as there are three levels of this strategy. Take a look at the linked materials to begin moving your students to deeper levels of inquiry.
Also, please check out the AVID teacher resource library in the copy room - feel free to them out to have more time to dig in.

PBIS Weekly Focus
Life Skill of the Month - Honesty and Integrity - Check out related lessons and activities in our Cool Tools for Schools resource.
Focus Area of the Week – "Work it Out" - Teach the follow-up lesson from last week's workshop, and send home the related parent letters (will be copied for you). When students approach you with a complaint, reinforce the use of the "I Message" and "Clean-up" as tools.
Quiet Time - Take a few minutes to refresh your understanding of the purpose of Quiet Time.
Self Assessment Survey - Please take a few minutes to take this year's Self-Assessment Survey to provide feedback as to how we are doing with PBIS implementation this year. TIA!

Assessment Reminders
i-Ready Diagnostic Results - A question came up about the difference between 'Tested Out' and 'Max Score' when reading i-Ready Diagnostic results. "Tested Out" means that the student did not need to take a particular subtest. "Max Score" means that the student took the subtest and achieved a high score.
- ADEPT Testing: November 12th-December 13th (see email from Samantha)
- Optional IABs (3rd-5th) - Ongoing
- IAB Reporting System: Below is a link that will provide you with instruction on how to access the interim assessment reporting system as well as how to navigate the reports available.

Looking for Class Talent - The PFC is looking forward to hosting our Talent Show (date TBD)! Signing up and doing a solo act can be daunting. We we want to encourage as many group acts as possible. Our coordinator, Sierra Kulak, is hoping with more time teachers may be able to use PE time or music class time to put together an act representing a grade or class - consider connecting it to a theme in your curriculum. And of course, we encourage more staff members to perform this year as a treat for our students and families.
