THE ZEN DEN
Dear Prairie View Staff, Students, and Families,
We are excited to share with you the details of an important project that will be taking place at Prairie View Elementary in memory of our beloved second-grade teacher, Mrs. Besowshek. As many of you know, Mrs. Besowshek passed away after a brave battle with brain cancer. Her warmth, dedication, and love for her students and for teaching, touched the hearts of everyone at Prairie View. We are honored to be creating a lasting tribute to her legacy that will impact all students, families, and staff at PVE.
We are thrilled to announce that the school-wide project we have planned will be called the "Zen Den." This space will be a beautiful, peaceful outdoor area located right outside the library doors that is available for all students and staff. The "Zen Den" will feature a concrete pad and will serve as a versatile area for students and staff to gather for class meetings, reading sessions, mindfulness exercises, or simply a quiet place to relax and reflect. We will offer a variety of yoga mats and exercises to use as well. It will be a space where we can all take a moment to focus on well-being, creativity, and community—values that Mrs. Besowshek deeply embodied during her time here at Prairie View.
Most of the remaining funds for this project will come from the 2025 Third Grade Craft Fair, which will take place in May! The Third Grade Craft Fair has already helped contribute to the foundation of this project for the past 2 years. Additionally, we will be hosting a few more small fundraisers in the coming months to ensure we have the full amount needed to complete the Zen Den this summer. We are so grateful for your support in these efforts, and we look forward to seeing how this space will be used by our entire school community.
The creation of the Zen Den is more than just an additional physical space outdoors for our students to utilize—it is a reminder to all of us of the importance of taking care of our mental and emotional well-being. We hope that this area will be a place for everyone to find peace, focus, and connection as we continue to honor Mrs. Besowshek's memory and the impact she had on all of us and as a reminder to take care of ourselves as well.
We are excited to begin this project and will keep you updated as it progresses. Thank you for your support and for being a part of this meaningful tribute to an extraordinary teacher.
Warm regards,
Zen Den Committee

LEADER IN ME
PVE staff and students are preparing for the upcoming Hawk Walk of Fame Assembly. These monthly ceremonies are based on the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. Teachers nominate a student from their class that has consistently demonstrated their understanding and application of the current habit. These students are honored in that month's Hawk Walk of Fame Assembly.
January's Habit is "Think Win Win."
Our next late start days is Monday, February 10 and/or Monday, March 10. The WSD will provide supervision for K-5 students who need to be dropped off at the regular start time on Late Start Days. This is separate from our Before Care Program through Chautauqua. Register your student.
Has your child's teacher made a significant impact on their education and life? Do you want to recognize a staff member who goes above and beyond? We're rolling out a new way to honor our staff, and it only takes a few minutes to do. Nominate a teacher or employee for a Wentzville Wow Factor Award anytime throughout the school year to let them know they are making a difference!
