PSMS Weekly Update

Maddie is one of the hardest working students on the entire team. She always gives every assignment her very best effort, and her grades show that. She is kind, cooperative, friendly, and a pleasure to have as a student every single day.

Jasen is always on task in class and help classmates when they are confused.

Both students received Pinz gift certificates!

Second floor 7th and 8th grade teams won the term 2 Paw Points Competition! Adelmann, Burkhead, Enos and Previti won for 6th grade! Congratulations to our winning teams. Rewards will be planned for after break!

Trooper John Ragosa of the MA State Police K9 Bomb Squad Unit presented to the 6th grade students on this week in relation to their Forces at a Distance Science Unit.

Despite our student teams falling to the staff in a 31-40 loss, Basketball Bonanza was a big hit! Thank you to the staff and students that participated and attended the event. Thank you to our PTA, Physical Education staff, and Mrs. Merrill for their hard work to make the evening fun for everyone!

Tickets are on sale for the PSMS Drama Club's production of The Addams Family! There will be two performances: Friday, February 28th at 7:00 PM and Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 at the PSHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 when purchased online and $12 at the door. Honors Breakfasts will be held on March 5th. The schedule is as follows:

Grade 6 Honors Celebration - 8:30 - 9:00

Grade 8 Honors Celebration - 9:15 - 9:45

Grade 7 Honors Celebration - 10:00 - 10:30

Our sponsor is once again, ACE Excavation who is planning a new surprise for our honor roll students!

You will see listed on the upcoming events below that I have planned school safety assemblies. The purpose of these assemblies is to inform students of our practices and protocols in the event of an emergency. While I will address how we respond in the worst case scenario of an armed intruder, I will also address other scenarios in which we may use these protocols such as medical emergencies, fires or other situations that will require an evacuation, etc. We want students to be prepared for the worst case scenario, but also realize there are more often other reasons for a stay in place, building evacuation, or the presence of an ambulance, additional police officers, etc.

The drill, which will not be announced, will consist of going into a lockdown and having students and the teacher discuss a scenario of an armed intruder and how they would respond. The drill will end with classrooms being unlocked/released by a school administrator and an SRO.
