Skyhawk News
October 2024
Principal Corner
Dear Skyline Families,
Happy Fall! I hope everyone is staying cool in this October heatwave. I am sure our usual fog will be joining us soon. (I hope!) We have a lot of fun activities planned for this month as we welcome in Fall. Last week our K-2 students attended the Firefighters Assembly to learn about fire safety and learn about all the fire equipment on a real fire truck. Hopefully they all did their homework and asked you about your smoke alarms in your home.
Our Chocolate Sale has been going really well but we do have some additional boxes of chocolate left to sell. The proceeds from the sale go to help support school programs and provide scholarships for our Outdoor Education program. Thank you to all our families for helping support Skyline!
Our Enrichment programs will start this week with Chef It Up (grades 1-5) and Robotics (grades 2-5). Flyers went home last week. If you were unable to sign up for this session, we will be starting a new session in December.
Each month, Skyhawks participate in a Character Counts! Assembly. This month we will be focusing on the CASEL for Social Awareness and tolerance. As a school community, we work to build this social emotional learning into our practice to help students manage their emotions, set goals, and make responsible and caring decisions. Skyhawks focus on being Respectful, Responsible, Kind and Safe and staff members recognize students with WINGS. Each Monday we draw names from the week before and collectively, we are working on earning enough WINGS for a school wide special treat. Listed below are those students whose names were drawn for September. Congratulations to our WINGS recipients! If you'd like to learn more about the CASEL Framework, please visit their website here.
We need your help to earn cash for Skyline with the Earning for Learning program at the Serramonte Center. We're currently in 14 place, but I know we can do better. Please upload your receipts so we can earn money for our school. The link for turning in receipts is here, but you can also drop them off in our office and we'll turn them in for you. See the flyer below for more information and enjoy going to the many fun events they have planned during October. Make sure you tell them you're from Skyline so we can earn even more points!
PTA UPDATE
Spirit Wear Sales store starts today, October 7th and will run for 2 weeks. All items will be shipped at the close of the store, and no orders will be accepted after October 21st. They plan to run the store again in the Spring. Everything can be found on the PTA Link Tree Site:.https://linktr.ee/skylineptadc
PTA will be sending out information this week about our annual Trunk or Treat on Friday October 25th. Look for information about the Pumpkin Decorating Contest coming soon too. Come to our PTA meeting on Thursday and learn how you can help support these fun activities.
On October 31st, we will be having our annual Halloween Parade and families are welcome to come on campus to watch. I'll be sending out more specific information as the event gets closer. I know that Halloween is a time to dress up and share treats but I ask you to please follow our Food and Party Policy below.
In gratitude,
Mrs. Daniel-Libman
