🌷Volunteers Needed for Spring Party 🌺
Hopewell's Spring Party will take place on Friday, April 4. Each grade will take turns rotating through the gym for their party during their specials time. The party will feature an inflatable obstacle course. In addition, we will enjoy games, crafts, music, and ice cream with chocolate sauce. This will be our final school party of the year, and we appreciate all of the support and help we have received to hold these events for our students. We could not have done it without you!
We are asking for some additional donations of food items and craft supplies for the party. We will also need some volunteers for set-up, help during parties and at the end for a quick and easy tear down. If you cannot join us for an entire grade level party, you are welcome to drop by for part of your child's party. Please only sign up for a party slot if you can attend the entire time listed for that slot. We have party volunteer slots for individual grade level parties, or if you want to come and party with us for a full or half day we would love to have you sign up for one of those slots! For liability reasons associated with this type of event during the school day, we will not be allowed to have younger siblings or elementary children who are not enrolled at Hopewell at the parties. Thank you!
We are asking that all party donations be dropped off at the school office by Monday, March 31 so that we have time to organize and prepare them for the event. Thank you!
Increased Bike Traffic – Please Drive with Caution
As the weather continues to warm up, we are seeing more students riding their bikes to and from school.
We kindly ask all drivers to be extra cautious, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Be alert for students on bikes, particularly at crosswalks and intersections.
- Come to a complete stop at the stop sign.
By working together, we can help keep our school community safe. Thank you for your attention and cooperation!
Car Rider Drop Off
For the safety of all students, we kindly ask that you wait for a staff member to open the door when dropping your child off in the morning. We have procedures in place to ensure a safe and smooth arrival for everyone.
This helps us maintain a safe and efficient process for all students.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe!
Important!!!!
Keep Reading in 4th Quarter
Our 4th quarter reading goal begins 3/21 and any reading that students complete over Spring Break will count towards our 150,000-minute building goal!

Attendance, Absence, Lateness
Every child is urged to form excellent habits regarding attendance and promptness. A good start to the day helps foster a positive attitude. If your child is absent, please call the school office (816)359-4410 before 9:10am. If you fail to report the absence or lateness, our attendance messenger will call out at 10:00am to notify you that your child is not in school. This is a practice we’ve instituted to ensure the safe arrival of our children.
Absences or lateness may also be reported through your infinite campus parent portal.
Student Dismissal Plans, Transportation Day-to-Day Changes
If your student is going to have different transportation, a phone call or email from the parent/guardian must accompany the request. Please contact the office prior to 3:00pm to request a change in transportation. Changes to ride an alternative bus will only be issued for a change in daycare or for the safety of the student. If an alternative person is checking out your student, the person must have their ID scanned.
Students being picked up prior to the end of the school day, please arrive in the office prior to 3:30pm. Parent/Guardians who arrive after 3:50pm, will need to join the car rider line or wait until dismissal begins for their child to be called out of class.
If your child is a bus rider, it is imperative that we plan for any transportation changes prior to dismissal. Buses leave once they are loaded.
Transportation App
First View Bus App for Families
All students scan their badges as they board the bus, giving you access to live updates as to the location of your child's bus and the anticipated time in which the bus will arrive at your stop. This is especially helpful when buses become delayed while in route for various reasons. Check out the information below to get set up!
If you have questions or experience difficulty in setting this up, please contact the Hopewell Office.

PTA Clothing Center
The Park Hill School District PTA runs a clothing center that provides free, gently used clothing, plus new socks and underwear to district students. Please visit our Facebook page or the PTA Clothing Center website for updated information.
The PTA Clothing Center serves all Park Hill School District students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The PTA asks you to bring proof that you are currently enrolled in the Park Hill district. This could be a student ID, dated letter from a principal or social worker, class schedule, or enrollment form. You can also show us the district portal with student information in it.
Donations are welcome at the Clothing Center anytime, year-round. There is a blue bin in front of the garage of the clothing center, which is at 8009 N Atkins, just south of the Gerner Family Early Education Center. Please make sure your donations are clean, in good condition and bagged in kitchen-sized bags that the volunteers can lift.
PBIS
Soaring to Success
We believe it is our job to teach our children expectations just like we would teach the curriculum. Through Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), we have developed a framework that sets clear and consistent language throughout the building.
Each week, a Hawk from each class is recognized for being an outstanding Hawk and Soaring to Success! They receive a certificate and get their picture on a bulletin board in our main hall.

Birthday Favors
Approved Birthday Favors:
Students may bring a birthday treat or favor to school to share with their classmates, as long as they come from our list of treats that contain none of the eight (8) major allergens - milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish, and shellfish.
Thank you for understanding that all classroom treats must come from this list because we do not have the staff capacity to check for allergens that could threaten the health of some students.
Please bring birthday treats ahead of time (two hours after the start of school, at the latest).
