GROWING BOBKATS...EVERY DAY!
Happy Sunday, BobKats!
Only 5 more days of school left, but what a fun and exciting week we have planned for our BobKats! Please see the calendar dates and flyers below for all the events we have planned.
In case you don't follow our Facebook page, I wanted to share with you that Brabham Middle School was honored with the Momentum Maker Award for the highest student attendance growth for the month of April. Compared to last year, BMS saw a 2% increase in our attendance. That is a big deal! Also, we've are currently over 1% ahead of last year's overall attendance. We want a strong finish this week to maintain our growth and so our students can enjoy all the end of year events (see the flyer below). I really appreciate all our students and parents for your efforts!!!
One special event I would like to mention, is our 8th Grade Clap Out on our last day early release. During that event, our 8th graders will be celebrated in the building by walking the halls of BMS one last time, with our 6th and 7th graders cheering them on. Following that, the 8th graders will walk out to our track where their families will see them transition from middle school to high school. We would love to see all of our 6th and 7th graders there to help make it a memorable experience for our 8th graders.
FAMILY SURVEY
The school year may be coming to a close, but we are already planning for next year!
Willis ISD and Brabham Middle School are looking ahead, and we want to hear from those we serve.
The 2024-25 End-of-Year Surveys are now open. This isn’t just a form, it’s your opportunity to help shape our future. We want to know what we did well and what we can do better.
Every response helps district leaders reflect honestly on this year and make informed decisions that support students, staff, and the entire Willis ISD community.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
FINISH THE YEAR STRONG!!!
As a reminder, chronic absenteeism not only can contribute to academic struggles, but can also create attendance issues regarding state required attendance for promotion to the next grade level. Students are required to be in attendance a minimum of 90% to receive credit for attendance. Please help your student ensure that they are academically successful and that they meet the state requirement for attendance.
#LetsGrow!
In addition to the importance of attendance for academic and social development, BMS also has incentives for Perfect and Awesome Attendance (1-2 absences per 9 weeks)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ACADEMIC AND VACATION CALENDARS
SCHOOL SAFETY
🚨 No Drill this Week 🚨
Each year, BMS conducts required safety drills with our staff and students. We practice these drills so we can ensure that everyone knows how to respond in such an event and so we can ensure the safety of our school community.
Prior to each of the drills, we will communicate the date or date range and type of drill we will be practicing. We hope this communication will reduce anxiety and provide an opportunity for you to talk with your student about the importance of safety procedures.
WEEK AT A GLANCE - "WAG"
We believe that parent communication and parent involvement in the educational process is not only important, but critical to the growth and success of our students. With that in mind, each week you will receive an email (WAG) from your student's teachers. That email will contain information detailing what they will be learning the next week, any upcoming important dates, and a weekly progress report. We look forward to working together to support our BobKats!
UPDATED STADIUM/EVENT POLICIES

WISD Electronic Device Policy 24-25
BMS understands the expanding importance of technology in our world today. However, the use of electronic devices/cellphones at inappropriate times has a negative effect on the learning environment. While students will continue to be able to have and use their devices before school, during lunch, and at after school activities, electronic devices/cellphones will not be allowed in the hallways or classrooms during the school day.
- When an electronic device is observed in an area or at a time that it is not allowed, the student will receive one verbal warning from the teacher/staff to put the device away.
- If the student does not comply with the verbal redirection, we will obtain the device from the student and there will be a $5 fee to retrieve the device after school.
- On the second offense, the student will be charged a $15 fee to retrieve the device after school.
- On all subsequent offenses, the student will be charged a $15 fee and a parent will be required to retrieve the device.
The purpose of this policy is to help foster an environment that is safe and limits distractions to learning for all students. Information regarding this policy can be found on page 55 of the Willis ISD Student Handbook. I appreciate your understanding and support in this matter as we begin "Growing BobKats...Every Day!" #LetGrow!

TRANSPORTATION
BUS RIDERS:
Keep track of daily transportation updates with the My Ride K-12 app!

CAR RIDERS
We really appreciate the great job everyone is doing to keep the car rider line moving in the morning and the afternoon. There are only two quick reminders:
- Please drop students off in the curb lane (lane closest to the school). We want to avoid the potential for an accident occurring when students cross from the outside lane.
- When leaving from the drop off area, please maintain a slow speed. Again, we want to avoid the potential for an accident.
BobKat Athletics
