Headteacher - Mr J Ayre
Assistant Headteacher - Mrs S Humphreys
Associate Assistant Headteacher - Miss L Brook
Dear Parents & Carers,
It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you that after six wonderful years leading Carleton Park J & I School, I will be moving on from my role as Headteacher. This decision has not been an easy one, but it is driven by a desire for career progression and the opportunity to contribute to the growth of another school within our Trust.
I am immensely proud to share that the next step in my journey will see me taking on a leadership position in a larger primary school. I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Leaving Carleton Park however will undoubtedly be bittersweet for me. As many of you know, my connection to this school runs deep; I was once a pupil here myself.
The memories and experiences I have had at Carleton Park are immeasurable, and they will always hold a special place in my heart. I am proud of what we have accomplished together. The school in 2018, faced significant challenges, including declining outcomes and underperformance. Through the collective efforts of pupils, staff, and leaders across the Trust, as well as the support of parents and carers, we have transformed Carleton Park into the number one primary school in Wakefield for attainment It has also been placed in the top 1% in the country for key stage two outcomes and achieved two outstanding judgments at our last Ofsted inspection.
Though I am unbelievably proud of the superb academic achievement of our pupils over the last 6 years, I am most proud of the amazing personal development offer our children receive. The staff go above and beyond for our school on a daily basis and with your collective support we have been able to create something very special at Carleton Park - for this I thank you.
I will not be leaving my current post until 31st August 2024 and rest assured it will be business as usual until then. I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your support over the past six years. Together, we have achieved great things. It has been a privilege to work here with this community. All parents and carers can be assured that the school has strong foundations on which to build, and I know that Carleton Park will go from strength to strength.
I would like to assure you that the Trust are committed to finding a successor who will continue the school’s drive for improvement, and I can confirm that this process has already started.
We will keep you updated on the outcome.
Best Regards,
Mr Ayre
