Handwashing

Did you know?

Handwashing offers several key benefits for elementary students:

1. **Prevents Illness**: Regular handwashing helps reduce the spread of germs, leading to fewer colds, stomach bugs, and other infections.

2. **Builds Good Hygiene Habits**: It teaches students responsibility for their own health, fostering lifelong habits of cleanliness.

3. **Reduces Contagion**: Handwashing helps keep germs from spreading to classmates, teachers, and family members.

4. **Improves Food Safety**: It prevents the spread of foodborne illnesses by ensuring hands are clean before eating.

5. **Protects Skin and Eyes**: Handwashing reduces the risk of skin infections and prevents eye infections like pink eye.

6. **Supports Learning**: Healthy students are more focused, miss fewer school days, and engage better in class.

**Tips to Encourage Handwashing**:

- Make it fun with songs or games.

- Teach the 20-second wash rule.

- Model good hygiene behavior.

- Ensure easy access to sinks and soap.

By promoting handwashing, schools create a healthier, safer environment for students and staff.

Parent Pick Up Areas

Parents walking or parking to Pick Up

Please stand inside the blacktop area. Most of our students use the sidewalk to walk home or head to the car loop. This also allows for safety for our students heading to the Boys and Girls Club.

Car Loop

Please drive past the yellow X before stopping. This allows us to load more students at once and speeds up the process. For the safety of our students, we will not load students passed the yellow circle. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Parking Lot

This area is for parking in a designated spot to walk up or pick up your student. Please do not use this space as a drop of location.

No Parking!

This area is a no parking zone. Please do not park on the red lines.

Please Keep Clear

We ask that you do not stand or sit in this area beginning at 3:50. Most of our students exit at the front of our building so we need the sidewalks clear.

Community School Updates

Our community school is up and running. Please reach out to Melanie Morales for more information by phone at 208- 855-4335 or by email at morales.melanie@westada.org. The community school can help families with school supplies, clothing, and even food.

The community school is always taking donations especially clothing items. They can be dropped off at the community school during school hours.
