23-24 End of Year Info. and Summer Info./A Look Ahead
Mission: A place where everyone pursues their greatness.
Vision: A community coming together for our kids.
Knight Families,
It has been an amazing school year at Benninghoven and it is because of the creative students, supportive families, dedicated teachers, and unwavering community we have surrounding us. Below are just a few highlights from this school year....
* PTA and Community Partners supported over 30 student and staff celebrations
* second year of success with Boosterthon and Fun Run program
* Expansion of Mentor Round Table Program at lunch K-6th grade!
* Monthly all school assemblies with special guests and a focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
* New End of Year Character Award - "The Benninghoven Character Shield" awarded to one student from each classroom for display role model Knight behavior
* Growth in benchmark proficiency on State Assessments in both math and reading
Thank you to each of you of being a part of our school community. There is not greater gift or joy than to share in the success of a young child during their elementary years. Thank your for the trust and support in me as a leader each day, and the ability to grow with your child.
Please enjoy a video below highlighting our staff and teacher team, as we wish you a wonderful, safe, and refreshing summer break! We will connect again mid July when offices re-open.
All the best,
Anna Jensen, Principal

Grade Level Teams for the 24-25 School Year
Families,
Below are the anticipated teams and grade level sections for the 24-25 school year. Throughout the summer and leading up to the start of the school year, enrollment can shift which can lead to changes. When offices open in again in late July/early August, I will send a "Welcome Back BH Family Newsletter" with any updates or changes!
Families will be notified of their child's placement and classroom teacher on the afternoon of August 7th once teachers return to the building.
School Supplies
Supply lists for the 24-25 school year are ready for you to view! These items can also be purchased as a bundle through PTA! See the information in the PTA section for details to order now.
You will also see some optional "Wish Lists" for the Nurse, Specials, and Support Staff. These have been compiled for staff that do not roster a classroom, but meet student needs on a daily basis. If you would like to purchase any of the items on these lists, please label the item with the appropriate allocation (IE: Nurse, Art, Resource) so that we can get them to the right place!
Any student or family that needs financial support with supplies, please reach out to our Office Manager, Nicole Cunningham or Social Worker, Paula Pyle - and we will be happy to provide support!
Lists can also be found on the Benninghoven website at https://benninghoven.smsd.org/
UNPAID SCHOOL FEES AND FINES (REPEAT)
Unpaid School Fees/Fines
Please check your Skyward account or call the school office to check on any unpaid school fees/fines for the 23-24 school year. Any unpaid fee will go to collections at the end of this school year. The most common fees are instructional fees charged at the beginning of the school year; lost or damaged IPads, cords, or chargers; or lost library books.
NEWS FROM YOUR PTA
Thank you all for a wonderful school year. We are grateful for your support of the PTA so that we can then support the students, staff and community. We hope you all have a fun and safe summer!
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
We know the start of the next school year is the last thing on anyone's mind right now, but just in case you are wanting to get a jump start on school supplies below is the link to follow to purchase your school toolbox. You can customize your orders this year, so if you would like to leave anything out that is an option. This is an easy way to donate to the PTA and get your school supplies delivered to your front door. The PTA receives 5% for every box purchased. As always thank you so much for your continued support!
WATERMELON WELCOME Our incoming kindergarten students and their families are invited to Watermelon Welcome on Saturday, August 10 from 10-11am on the school playground. At the event students and their families will get a chance to meet teachers, staff and other families, do crafts and games, play on the playground and enjoy some yummy treats. A reminder email will be sent out this summer. We look forward to seeing you in August.
SUMMER LEARNING
Benninghoven PTA wants to help keep the student's skills sharp and avoid the “summer slide.” Each student K-5 will bring home a summer learning packet in their backpack. You can find the document below if you misplace it over the summer. The packet will provide details about how to participate in the challenge this summer. Any student that completes the challenge will be invited to attend a Summer Learning Celebration when school resumes in the fall. Packets will be due on Friday, August 23. If you have any questions, please reach out to Bryan Ridgway at bryanridgway@me.com.
PTA COMMITTEE OPPORTUNITIES We look forward to providing many of Benninghoven's annual events, programs, and activities for the 2024-2025 school year! Our goal as a PTA is to support the teachers, staff and students and build a strong school community.
This can only be accomplished with the help of MANY hands! We need your help this coming year. Whether you have a flexible schedule during the school day or need to do something that can be done on your own time, there's something for everyone! Also, if you're feeling hesitant or nervous, please be assured that it is a team effort and we are here to support you in your role.
If you have any questions or would like more details on events/programs or committee chair responsibilities, please contact Bryan Ridgway at rbhptapres@gmail.com. You can see all the opportunities here.
